Severino (11-6) picked up the win over the Phillies on Thursday, allowing three runs on five hits and two walks over six innings while striking out seven.
EDGE Analysis
Severino got off to a hot start, striking out five of the first eight batters he faced in the contest before allowing two runs in the third inning and another in the fourth. The right-hander generated 13 whiffs in the contest en route to posting at least seven strikeouts for the fifth time in his last eight outings. It marked Severino's fourth-consecutive quality start, while he's also secured wins in each of his last four decisions (spanning seven starts).

Severino did not factor into the decision in Saturday's 6-4 loss to the Phillies, allowing three runs on three hits and one walk with five strikeouts over six innings.
EDGE Analysis
Severino was mostly in control but surrendered two home runs to Bryce Harper before departing with a 4-3 lead. The 30-year-old generated 11 whiffs on 86 pitches and has tossed three consecutive quality starts to open September. On the season, he owns a 3.77 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 149:57 K:BB across 172 innings and lines up for a rematch with the Phillies next week.

Severino did not factor into the decision Sunday, allowing one run on five hits and two walks over 6.2 innings against the Reds. He struck out eight.
EDGE Analysis
Severino held the Reds off the board through six and nearly made it out of the seventh unscathed but a two-out RBI single by Noelvi Marte knocked Severino out with the game tied at one. It was the fourth time in his last six starts that Severino has struck out at least eight and the fourth time in five starts he's allowed no more than one earned run, holding a 1.95 ERA over that stretch. He remains a key cog in the Mets' playoff push and will look to continue the momentum in his next start, tentatively slated to take place when the Mets travel to Philadelphia for a showdown against the Phillies.

Severino (10-6) earned the win over Boston on Monday, allowing one run on six hits and two walks while striking out five batters over seven innings.
EDGE Analysis
Severino yielded just one extra-base hit (a triple) and threw 66 of 100 pitches for strikes. The veteran right-hander picked up just his second quality start over his past eight outings, with the other being a complete-game shutout of Miami on Aug. 17. Monday's victory was Severino's 10th of the campaign, marking the first time he has reached double-digit wins since he went 19-8 for the Yankees in 2018. Not coincidentally, 2024 is the first time he's logged 20 starts since that standout 2018 campaign.

Severino did not factor into the decision in a loss to Arizona on Wednesday, allowing four runs on eight hits and one walk over 4.2 innings. He struck out nine.
EDGE Analysis
Severino struck out four of the first seven batters he faced before allowing Arizona's first run of the contest on an RBI single from Luis Guillorme. The right-hander was then victimized by the long ball in both the third and fourth innings and would later be relieved by Huascar Brazoban with two outs in the fifth, marking Severino's shortest outing this month. The 30-year-old veteran has now surrendered at least four runs in four of his last six starts, coughing up multiple homers in three of those outings. He'll finish the month of August with a 4.08 ERA and a 35:8 K:BB in five starts, going 2-2 over that stretch.

Severino (9-6) picked up the win over the Padres on Thursday, allowing one run on five hits and four walks over five innings while striking out five.
EDGE Analysis
Severino did a good job of pitching his way out of trouble through the first four innings despite surrendering five singles and a walk over that stretch. The Padres would finally get to him in the fifth, however, when the right-hander allowed the first three batters to reach, eventually leading to San Diego's first run coming home on a double play. Severino has allowed one run or fewer in back-to-back starts after previously giving up at least four runs in three straight. However, he also matched his second-highest walk total of the campaign in Thursday's win, and he's issued multiple free passes in seven of his last nine outings.

Severino (8-6) picked up the win Saturday, scattering four hits and a walk over nine scoreless innings in a 4-0 victory over the Marlins. He struck out eight.
EDGE Analysis
Three of the four hits off Severino were doubles, but he bore down and stranded the runner each time. The right-hander needed a season-high 113 pitches (78 strikes) to record his second career shutout, with the other coming back in 2018. It was an impressive turnaround for Severino, who had gone 0-3 with an 8.00 ERA and 1.83 WHIP over his prior four starts. The 30-year-old is scheduled to make his next trip to the mound on the road next week in San Diego.

Severino (7-6) took the loss Sunday against the Mariners, allowing four runs on six hits and two walks while striking out eight over five innings.
EDGE Analysis
Severino had allowed just one run through four innings, which came on a solo home run by Jorge Polanco. He was one out away from getting through the fifth unscathed, but Randy Arozarena extended the inning with an RBI infield single before Cal Raleigh opened things up with a two-run homer. On a positive note, Severino racked up eight strikeouts, his most since he had 10 back on June 23 but he's now given up five homers and 14 runs over his last three starts (15 innings). The 30-year-old now owns a 4.17 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 109:46 K:BB in 133.2 innings. He'll look for some better results when he takes the mound in a weekend series against the Marlins his next time out.

Severino (7-5) allowed five runs (four earned) on eight hits and struck out five without walking a batter over five innings to take the loss Tuesday versus the Rockies.
EDGE Analysis
It was a marginally better outing than his last start, in which he allowed six runs over three innings to the Twins. Severino also avoided walking a batter for the first time since June 23, but that wasn't enough to spare him from taking consecutive losses for the first time this season. He's now at a 4.06 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 101:44 K:BB through 128.2 innings over 22 starts this year. He's seen his highest workload since 2018, so there is some risk that he'll wear down over the remainder of the campaign. Severino's next start is projected to be at Seattle.

Severino (7-4) took the loss Wednesday, surrendering six runs on six hits and two walks over three innings as the Mets fell 8-3 to the Twins. He struck out two.
EDGE Analysis
Three of the hits off the right-hander went for extra bases, including a solo homer by Byron Buxton in the second inning and a two-run blast by Matt Wallner in the third. Severino has given up only four runs and zero homers in his last three starts combined, but he remains prone to poor outings -- he's been tagged for at least six runs in three of his last eight trips to the mound, stumbling to a 5.32 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 36:14 K:BB through 45.2 innings over that stretch. He could have a hard time righting the ship in his next start, which is scheduled to come on the road early next week in Coors Field.
