Morrison is out of the lineup Wednesday against the Tigers.
Morrison normally receives his rest against left-handed pitchers, but a 1-for-16 stretch at the plate may have lead to one Wednesday despite the right-handed Anibal Sanchez on the mound for the Tigers. Mark Trumbo will start at first base in his place, while Seth Smith will start in right and Dustin Ackley in left.

Morrison (back) is in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Padres.
Manager Lloyd McClendon opted to hold Morrison out of Sunday's series finale against the Angels due to a back concern, but Morrison did make a pinch-hit appearance and it seems Monday's team off day provided sufficient rest to treat the issue. He will lead off for the 16th time this season against right-hander Ian Kennedy.

Morrison was held out of Sunday's lineup against the Angels due in part to a sore back, MLB.com's Greg Johns reports.
Morrison's absence probably had more to do with a left-hander being on the mound for the opposition in Hector Santiago, but it was also done with the intention of giving the first baseman a full two days to rest in advance of Tuesday's series opener against the Padres. He later entered the game Sunday to pinch-hit and substitute in at first base, so it doesn't look like he'll be at risk of missing Tuesday's game.

With the Angels bringing southpaw Hector Santiago to the hill, manager Lloyd McClendon will keep a couple of his lefty bats on the bench. Morrison and Seth Smith will sit out while Willie Bloomquist and Franklin Gutierrez join the starting nine.

Morrison had a big game Saturday, going 2-for-5 with two home runs and five RBI off Collin McHugh.
He hasn't been especially productive for Seattle as their first baseman, but Morrison now has a modest eight home runs, 22 RBI and a .258/.328/.412 slash line on the season.

Morrison had three hits Saturday as he continues to overcome a dreadful start to the season.
Morrison was batting .149 on April 28. In 35 games since, he is hitting .313 with five homers, 17 walks and 20 strikeouts (13.6 percent K rate). Morrison, who has a .397 OBP in that span, has been used in the leadoff spot three times in the last week. He could see more of that, though Saturday he batted seventh.

Morrison (back) is starting at first base and hitting leadoff against the Rays on Friday, Greg Johns of MLB.com reports.
Friday marks the third time in the last five games that Morrison has been atop the order for the Mariners. He was a late scratch from Thursday's game due to back spasms, but apparently it was just a minor setback, as he will set the table in a left-heavy lineup against right-hander Jake Odorizzi.

Morrison was scratched from Thursday's lineup due to back spasms, Greg Johns of MLB.com reports.
The back issues presumably surfaced during batting practice, as manager Lloyd McClendon was forced to alter his lineup about an hour or so before first pitch. Mark Trumbo will now man first base in his Mariners debut, while Morrison should be considered day-to-day ahead of Friday's contest.
