Morrison was scratched from Thursday's lineup due to back spasms, Greg Johns of MLB.com reports. The back issues presumably surfaced during batting practice, as manager Lloyd McClendon was forced to alter his lineup about an hour or so before first pitch. Mark Trumbo will now man first base in his Mariners debut, while Morrison should be considered day-to-day ahead of Friday's contest.
