Morrison is not in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Red Sox, Roger Mooney of the Tampa Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Morrison has just six at-bats against left-handed pitching and will unsurprisingly get a day off against Boston's David Price. With just two singles through 40 at-bats, Morrison may soon start to lose playing time against right-handers, as well. Steve Pearce will start Thursday's game at first base.

Morrison is not currently in danger of losing his starting spot despite considerable early-season struggles at the plate, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
Manager Kevin Cash made the comments before Wednesday's loss to the Red Sox in overall reference to the various struggling players throughout the Rays lineup, saying it wouldn't be justified "to make drastic" changes in the lineup this early into the season. Notably, Morrison then went 0-for-3 Wednesday, bringing his stat line to a minuscule .050/.050/.116 over his first 40 at-bats of the season.

Morrison is out of the lineup Friday against the White Sox, Steve Carney of 620 WDAE reports.
EDGE Analysis
The first baseman has just two hits in 29 at-bats on the season, and with dominant lefthander Chris Sale on the bump for the White Sox, Friday presents an ideal opportunity to take Morrison out of the lineup. Veteran Steve Pearce will start in Morrison's place and bat fourth.

Morrison will hit second and serve as the designated hitter in Saturday's game versus the Orioles, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
Off to an abysmal .071 start over his first 14 at-bats in 2016, Morrison finally logged his first hit of the season on Friday night versus the Orioles. He'll have a chance to focus solely on improving his performance at the plate Saturday, with regular DH Corey Dickerson drawing a start in left field.

Morrison is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Blue Jays, Roger Mooney of the Tampa Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Manager Kevin Cash has loaded his lineup with right-handed bats to counter lefty J.A. Happ. Morrison started Monday against left-hander Drew Smyly, but the platoon-conscious Rays figure to play the matchups often. Steve Pearce gets the start at first base.

Morrison will serve as the Rays' starter at first base in Sunday's game against the Blue Jays, Roger Mooney of The Tampa Tribune reports. He'll bat second in the order.
EDGE Analysis
The Rays released veteran James Loney on Sunday, so the team appears set to proceed with a Morrison and Steve Pearce platoon at first base to enter the season. By virtue of being the left-handed bat, Morrison should see the larger portion of at-bats in the timeshare.

Morrison went 3-for-3 with a double, homer, two RBI and two runs scored in Sunday's 8-8 spring tie with the Orioles.
EDGE Analysis
Morrison has now hit safely in four straight games, and has all four of his spring training RBI over that span. The 28-year-old has two consecutive multi-hit games as well, and has managed a .385 average (10-for-26) with a home run in 26 spring at-bats.

Morrison went 2-for-3 with a run scored in Friday's 5-1 spring victory over the Red Sox.
EDGE Analysis
Acquired from the Mariners in a November three-team trade, the 28-year-old now has hit safely in three straight games. He's hitting .304 over 23 at-bats this spring, and has the potential to offer the Rays some pop from the left side of the plate in 2016. Morrison has four double-digit home run seasons in the last five, and his 17 homers in 2015 represented the second-highest total of his career. With his ability to play first base and serve as designated hitter, Morrison is projected to be an important cog of the Tampa offense in 2016.

Morrison has been traded to Tampa Bay as part of a six-player trade, Bob Dutton of the Tacoma News Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Morrison has been dealt to the Rays along with Danny Farquhar and Brad Miller in exchange for Nathan Karns, C.J Riefenhauser, and Boog Powell. The 28-year-old Morrison struggled all season to get on base (.302 OBP) and his power numbers dwindled in the second half, registering just five home runs after the break. He'll add some versatility to the Rays given that he can play first base and left field.
