Parker was called up from Triple-A Albuquerque on Tuesday, Dargan Southard of MLB.com reports. Parker, who made several big league cameos in 2014, got off to a painfully slow start at Triple-A this season. He's turned things around of late, however, and his average now sits at a respectable .275 for the season. Capable of playing both first base and the outfield, Parker figures to provide depth at the big league level, and it remains to be seen how long the Rockies intend to keep him around. A corresponding move is yet to be announced.

Parker is batting 16-for-40 (.400) with two homers and 11 RBI over his last 10 games at Triple-A Albuquerque. Parker is beginning to dig himself out of a woeful open to the season with Albuquerque, but due to his April struggles, his batting line sits at a rather unremarkable .254/.296/.414 across 181 plate appearances. After adjusting for league and park effects, Parker's numbers equate to below-average production (86 wRC+). His slow start took him out of the running for a promotion to the Rockies when Justin Morneau (concussion) and Corey Dickerson (foot) hit the DL, and with call-ups Wilin Rosario, Ben Paulsen, and Brandon Barnes generally faring well as replacements, there's little reason to bring Parker aboard now even with his bat heating up.

Parker has compiled a .150/.250/.267 line through 70 plate appearances at Triple-A Albuquerque. Parker has struck out in a whopping 31.4 percent of his plate appearances and has posted a horrendous 37 wRC+, where 100 represents the offensive value of a league-average hitter after adjusting for park effects. Seventy plate appearances represents a small sample, but Parker was merely an average performer at the Triple-A level last season, and struck out in over half of his plate appearances during his multiple call-ups in the majors. Now 25 years old, Parker is hardly a prospect of note, and doesn't look like he'll develop into anything more than a bench bat at the next level.

Parker was optioned to the minors on Saturday, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports. The former first-round pick (26th overall in 2010) made a fairly strong case for a roster spot, going 13-for-39 (.333 average) with five doubles and six walks in 21 games, but the Rockies simply have better options at first base and in the corner outfield. That said, Parker will likely find himself on the short list of in-season replacement candidates if he gets off to a hot start at Triple-A. He posted a .289/.336/.450 line at that level last year, though that was with Colorado Springs.

Parker will vie for an Opening Day roster spot with the Rockies during spring training, MLB.com's Thomas Harding reports. Parker won't get a chance to compete for a starting job at any position, but his ability to play either of the corner outfield spots in addition to first base will aid his chances of claiming a reserve job. However, with manager Walt Weiss expressing a desire to keep only four bench bats as the team looks to stock up relievers, Parker would seem a safer bet to open the season at Triple-A Albuquerque. Parker's cause is further hurt by the fact that he didn't exactly impress during his multiple stints with the big club in 2014, reaching base on five of his 26 plate appearances while striking out 14 times.

Parker was called up by the Rockies on Tuesday, MLB.com's Cody Ulm reports. He failed to reach base in his lone pinch-hit opportunity in Tuesday's loss to the Giants. Parker will join the Rockies for the third time this season, but as was the case in his previous two stints with the club, he remains buried on the depth chart. His predicament will only worsen Sunday, when outfielder/first baseman Michael Cuddyer is expected to return from the DL.

Since returning to Triple-A Colorado Springs on July 12, Parker is batting .279 with five doubles and four homers over 136 at-bats. The numbers aren't astounding by any means, but are likely good enough for Parker to warrant another look with the Rockies come September. However, the team is still quite deep in the corner outfield and at first base even with Carlos Gonzalez (knee) out for the season, so at-bats might be limited for Parker down the stretch.

Rockies optioned 1B/OF Kyle Parker to Triple-A Colorado Springs. He's making room for Brett Anderson's return from the DL. Parker had just one hit in nine at-bats during his short stay with the big club.
