Parker will vie for an Opening Day roster spot with the Rockies during spring training, MLB.com's Thomas Harding reports. Parker won't get a chance to compete for a starting job at any position, but his ability to play either of the corner outfield spots in addition to first base will aid his chances of claiming a reserve job. However, with manager Walt Weiss expressing a desire to keep only four bench bats as the team looks to stock up relievers, Parker would seem a safer bet to open the season at Triple-A Albuquerque. Parker's cause is further hurt by the fact that he didn't exactly impress during his multiple stints with the big club in 2014, reaching base on five of his 26 plate appearances while striking out 14 times.
