Parker was optioned to the minors on Saturday, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports. The former first-round pick (26th overall in 2010) made a fairly strong case for a roster spot, going 13-for-39 (.333 average) with five doubles and six walks in 21 games, but the Rockies simply have better options at first base and in the corner outfield. That said, Parker will likely find himself on the short list of in-season replacement candidates if he gets off to a hot start at Triple-A. He posted a .289/.336/.450 line at that level last year, though that was with Colorado Springs.
