Kevin Gausman allowed five hits over six innings and combined with Tommy Hunter and Zach Britton on a shutout of the Rays on Wednesday. Gausman took another step towards securing his rotation spot with this one, even if it did come against a dysfunctional offense in Tampa Bay. Since getting his second calleup of the year, Gausman has allowed two runs over 19 innings, winning all three of his starts. He's still far from a sure thing, but he has too much upside to be left unowned in mixed leagues.

Kevin Gausman is scheduled to start Wednesday against the Rays. Miguel Gonzalez (oblique) will make his first start back from the disabled list on Tuesday if he's not needed out of the bullpen before then. Orioles manager Buck Showalter has said the club will not go to a six-man rotation, but it appears at least for one turn that they will. Gausman has been terrific in both of his starts since his recall and could make another statement Wednesday in what will be a juicy matchup. If he pitches well again, it's going to be hard for the O's to bump him from the rotation.

Kevin Gausman is expected to be removed from the Orioles' rotation when Miguel Gonzalez (oblique) returns from the disabled list. Gonzalez could replace Gausman as soon as early next week, or he could make another rehab start. Gausman has been terrific in both of his starts since his recall -- against the A's and Blue Jays, no less -- but he's still going to be either sent to the bullpen or to Triple-A. Manager Buck Showalter previously brought up the possibility of a six-man rotation, but he ruled that out Thursday.

Kevin Gausman earned his second win, allowing one run over six innings in Thursday's win over the Blue Jays. That's two out of two solid starts since the right-hander rejoined the Orioles' rotation. Gausman allowed five hits, walked three, and struck out three in the effort. In three starts overall, he has a 3.71 ERA, a 1.24 WHIP, and an 11/6 K/BB ratio in 17 innings. Gausman will face the Rays on the road in his next outing.

Kevin Gausman won for the first time in seven major league starts by limiting the A's to one run in seven innings Saturday. Finally, that's the Gausman the Orioles were hoping to see. He allowed four hits, walked one and struck out six against one of baseball's best offenses. The performance should ensure that he sticks around until Miguel Gonzalez comes off the disabled list, and if he pitches up to his ability, the Orioles will find room for him after that. Of course, despite his ample upside, we'd still be nervous about trying him in mixed leagues, what with the Blue Jays next up in the schedule.

Orioles recalled RHP Kevin Gausman from Triple-A Norfolk. Gausman will take the hill to start for the Orioles on Saturday against the Athletics. He has posted a 2.98 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 44/18 K/BB ratio over 42 1/3 innings at Norfolk this season. He's likely to remain in the rotation for the duration of Miguel Gonzalez's stay on the disabled list.

Kevin Gausman will start on Saturday against the Athletics. He's taking the rotation spot of Miguel Gonzalez (oblique). It's not an easy assignment, as Gausman made a spot start against the Tigers last month and now has to go up against the A's. He should get a couple starts before Gonzalez rejoins the rotation later this month.

Kevin Gausman was pulled from his start at Triple-A Norfolk Wednesday, after throwing 26 pitches in one inning. Gausman was the number four overall draft pick in 2012. Miguel Gonzales (side) has been scratched from his start Thursday. This could mean Gausman could be brought up to take his spot.

Orioles optioned RHP Kevin Gausman to Triple-A Norfolk. Gausman was lit up for five runs in four innings in his 2014 regular-season debut Wednesday against the Tigers. The 23-year-old righty should get another shot soon, and will likely be a full-time member of the Orioles' starting rotation around the All-Star break.

Kevin Gausman's season debut Wednesday didn't go well, as the youngster was lit up for five runs on six hits and two walks over four innings in a loss to the Tigers. Gausman's stuff was there, as he was sitting mostly in the mid-90s and touching 95 mph. His command was not there, however, and he needed 87 pitches to cover the four frames. The Orioles didn't put Gausman in a great spot, having him pitch on short rest against the Tigers in his major league debut, but there's no doubt that this goes down as a missed opportunity. If Gausman gets another start, it will come next week in Pittsburgh.
