Kevin Gausman has been diagnosed with focal pneumonia, not an intercostal strain as originally reported. It's good new for the young right-hander who was expected to hit the disabled list with the injury. It's unclear when he'll return to the mound, but his outlook has improved greatly since this morning.

I'm probably somewhere [near] the best physically I've felt." Gausman was rushed to the majors in 2013 and struggled, but he's a great talent and could be ready to take a step forward as a sophomore. Gausman was the fourth overall pick in the 2012 MLB Amateur Draft.
