Gausman (2-3) took the loss in Game 1 of Sunday's doubleheader against the Yankees, allowing six runs on three hits and five walks while striking out two over 2.2 innings.
EDGE Analysis
Gausman got through the first two innings with relative ease but ran into trouble in the third. He issued a single and five walks (including two with the bases loaded) before giving up a bases-clearing double to Austin Wells that gave the Yankees a 6-1 lead. Gausman tossed 53 of his 71 pitches in the third inning before being lifted and is now up to a 4.50 ERA and 1.03 WHIP in 34 innings. He'll look to bounce back in his next start, tentatively slated for next weekend at home against the Guardians.

Gausman and the Blue Jays won't face the Yankees on Saturday, as the game was postponed due to inclement weather
EDGE Analysis
Toronto and New York will play a doubleheader Sunday to make up for Saturday's contest, and Gausman will start the early game. He'll be looking to bounce back from a subpar performance his last time out, which saw him give up four runs in six innings against the Astros.

Gausman (2-2) took the loss against Houston on Monday, allowing four runs on six hits and three walks while striking out six batters over six innings.
EDGE Analysis
Gausman held Houston scoreless through four innings, but Atlanta got to him for four runs in the fifth. That was more than enough to send the veteran righty to his second loss, as Astros ace Hunter Brown dominated Toronto's lineup. Gausman still holds a solid 3.16 ERA on the campaign, and Monday marked the first time in 2025 that he's given up more than three runs in an outing. He'll look to get back in the win column his next time out, though he's projected for a tough matchup on the road against the Yankees this weekend.

Gausman (2-1) allowed two runs on six hits while striking out six in six innings in a win over Atlanta on Tuesday. He did not issue a walk.
EDGE Analysis
Gausman found himself trailing early after Austin Riley took him deep in the opening frame. Gausman cruised from there, however, allowing four base hits over the next four innings with just one runner reaching scoring position. Matt Olson was able to get a hold of one in the sixth, but the Blue Jays were still leading comfortably. Gausman has posted consecutive starts of six-plus innings and no walks. He's been ace material thus far, posting a 2.49 ERA, 0.71 WHIP and 20:3 K:BB in 25.1 innings. He's set to take the mound again next week versus the Astros on the road.

Gausman did not factor into the decision in Wednesday's win over the Red Sox. He allowed one unearned run on four hits while striking out 10 across eight innings.
EDGE Analysis
The lone run Gausman yielded Wednesday came in the first inning on a sacrifice fly by Alex Bregman, but it was unearned due to a fielding error that saw Jarren Duran advance from second to third base. Gausman proceeded to steamroll the Red Sox lineup, retiring 21 of the next 23 batters faced while striking out 10 (including five straight punchouts across the fourth and fifth frames) for his second quality start. He's posted a 2.60 ERA, 0.63 WHIP and 14:3 K:BB in his first three outings, and he'll look to earn his second win of 2025 in his next start, which is tentatively slated for next week at home against Atlanta.

Gausman (1-1) allowed three runs on two hits and two walks while failing to record a strikeout over 5.1 innings, taking the loss Friday versus the Mets.
EDGE Analysis
Gausman was tagged for a two-run home run by Pete Alonso in the first inning, but he settled down fairly well after that. The Mets started making more noise in the sixth, and Gausman was charged with one of the three runs in that inning. Gausman has allowed five runs over 11.1 innings with a 4:3 K:BB over his first two starts this season. He was given extra rest after his first start, but there was no indication of any physical issues involved in that decision. If he pitches on normal rest his next time out, he would line up for a road start in Boston.

Blue Jays manager John Schneider said Tuesday that Gausman's next start is likely to come Friday against the Mets, Hazel Mae of Sportsnet reports.
EDGE Analysis
Easton Lucas is tentatively lined up to start Wednesday in place of Max Scherzer (thumb), as long as Lucas not needed in relief Tuesday. Gausman would be pitching on seven days' rest if he does indeed take the ball Friday.

The Blue Jays could push Gausman's next start back to Friday against the Mets, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Gausman is currently scheduled to take the ball Wednesday versus the Nationals, but the Blue Jays might have Easton Lucas start that day if he's not needed in long relief before then. There does not appear to be anything wrong physically with Gausman, as this would simply give him a couple extra days of rest and also allow him to face the tougher lineup.

Gausman (1-0) struck out four in six innings, allowing two runs, three hits and one walk in an 8-2 win over the Orioles on Friday
EDGE Analysis
The former Oriole retired the first seven batters he faced before the eighth batter, Jackson Holliday, blasted a solo home run to put Gausman and the Blue Jays behind 1-0. Gausman allowed his second and final run an inning later on a Tyler O'Neill sacrifice fly, but that would be it for Baltimore. Toronto's offense got going in the bottom of the fourth and put up five runs, which was more than enough for the 34-year-old righty to nab the victory. A model of consistency, Gausman will aim for his sixth straight year with an ERA under 4.00 during the 2025 season. He is tentatively lined up for an outing against the Nationals next week.

Gausman topped out at 96.2 mph with his fastball during his spring debut Wednesday against the Pirates, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports. The 34-year-old right-hander walked one and struck out two over 1.2 scoreless, no-hit innings while tossing 23 of 38 pitches for strikes.
EDGE Analysis
Gausman dealt with shoulder trouble last spring that prevented him from getting fully stretched out ahead of Opening Day, and he seemed to be playing catch-up all season with both his velocity and his command on his breaking pitches. Gausman finished with a 3.83 ERA and 21.4 percent strikeout rate -- his worst numbers in those categories since 2019 -- over 181 regular-season innings while averaging just 93.9 mph with his fastball. He spent this winter putting on extra muscle, and it showed in his first Grapefruit League action as he averaged 94.9 mph with his heater. If Gausman begins this season healthy, a bounce-back campaign could well be in the cards, as he produced a 3.16 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 31.1 percent strikeout rate as recently as 2023.
