Gausman (3-6) tossed six shutout innings Monday, giving up two hits and four walks while striking out seven in a 2-0 victory over the Red Sox.
EDGE Analysis
The win was Gausman's first since Aug. 1, though he's tossed four quality starts in that span. Gausman's stuff has been as advertised, though a disproportionate number of home runs allowed have led to sobering results for the 24-year-old. While Gausman has struggled at points this season, his four walks allowed Monday should be an anomaly; the right-hander has walked two batters or less in 13 of his 14 starts. Gausman will next take the mound Saturday against the Rays.

Gausman was saddled with a no-decision against the Yankees on Monday, surrendering six hits, one earned run and one walk in five-plus innings. He struck out five.
EDGE Analysis
Gausman turned in a much more respectable effort after getting shelled in his last start against the Rays, although the long ball continued to haunt him. The young right-hander gave up a sixth-inning solo shot to Alex Rodriguez, making it five consecutive starts in which he's given up at least one gopher ball, and seven of eight starts dating back to Aug. 1. Although he has certainly had solid stretches in 2015, Gausman's 1.55 HR/9 rate looms as a potential obstacle each time he takes the mound.

Gausman lasted only 2.1 innings against the Rays on Wednesday, giving up eight hits, two walks and four runs (three earned). He struck out one and escaped without a decision.
EDGE Analysis
Fortunately for Gausman, opposing starter Erasmo Ramirez was near-equally rough, and this game ended up going to extra innings. He gave up two more homers in this one, continuing what's been a huge problem with the long ball recently -- Gausman has surrendered seven homers in his last four starts. He's also seen his bat-missing ability dry up over his last two games, having fanned just four in nine innings. He'll have a tough test against the Yankees -- who homered twice off him back on July 22 -- when he and the Orioles head up to New York next week.

Gausman (2-6) gave up four runs on nine hits and a walk while striking out three in 6.2 inning in Friday's loss to Texas.
EDGE Analysis
Gausman's had registered quality starts in five of his last six starts entering Friday, but struggled a bit with the Rangers lineup. Gausman is available in many leagues and owners looking for some late-season pitching could be taking out their scales and jelly beans to decide whether Gausman is worth a pickup. On one hand, he's given up 10 homers in his last 10 starts to go along with a very mediocre 4.57 ERA. On the other, he's averaged a solid 7.86 K/9 and posted a 1.14 WHIP over the same period. Whether Gausman is worth a pickup depends on what team stats you are looking to improve.

Gausman will make two starts at Triple-A Norfolk over the All-Star break before returning to the Orioles' rotation, Brittany Ghiroli of MLB.com reports.
The Orioles sent Gausman down to Triple-A after his rough outing Tuesday, but now it seems that he has a chance to stick in the big league rotation for the second half. By making two starts at Triple-A during the break, the Orioles plan to keep Gausman in a regular rhythm so that he'll be ready to return when the second half resumes.

Gausman was optioned to Triple-A Norfolk following Tuesday's start. He allowed eight runs (seven earned) on seven hits and one walk with four strikeouts over 3.2 innings against the Twins.
While the move may seem like punishment for Gausman's struggles Tuesday, it seems like the Orioles' are just strategically freeing up a roster spot in between his next start for the O's. By optioning him Tuesday night, the team starts his 10-day minor league clock Wednesday so that he can make one start for Norfolk and will be able to be recalled to start for Baltimore next Saturday.

Gausman will start Tuesday at Minnesota, Eduardo A. Encina of the Baltimore Sun reports.
Gausman will have first dibs on the rotation spot vacated by new bullpen arm Bud Norris. In two nods this season, Gausman has allowed two runs on eight hits and three walks to go with eight strikeouts in 11.1 innings.

Gausman will remain with the Orioles for their road trip that begins Friday against the White Sox, Dan Connolly of the Baltimore Sun reports.
Gausman went 6.1 scoreless innings with seven strikeouts and two walks in Thursday's start against the Rangers. The Orioles' road trip spans into next week, when the team travels to Minnesota. Manager Buck Showalter told reporters that he'll "see what happens" with Gausman, so it's still unclear at this point whether he'll get another turn in the rotation during the road trip.

Gausman has been recalled from Triple-A Norfolk.
As expected, Gausman will come up to start Thursday's contest against the Rangers. He's worked mostly out of the bullpen this season, posting a 4.24 ERA with a 1.23 WHIP and 14:6 K:BB in 17.0 cumulative innings. The Orioles optioned Tyler Wilson to Norfolk to clear a roster spot.

Gausman is expected to be recalled by the Orioles to start Thursday's game against the Rangers, Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports reports.
Gausman was bypassed for a start during either of Sunday's doubleheader games against the Indians, with manager Buck Showalter opting to give the ball to Ubaldo Jimenez and Chris Tillman for those contests. However, it doesn't appear Gausman will have to wait long before getting an opportunity with the big club, as he's expected to pitch an abbreviated outing Sunday with Norfolk in preparation for Thursday's turn with Baltimore. The hard-throwing Gausman possesses as much potential as any pitcher on the Orioles' staff, but had yet to break through while working mostly in a relief role earlier this season. He's posted a 4.24 ERA, 1.23 WHIP, and 14:6 K:BB ratio over 17 innings with the O's.
