Gausman hasn't been nearly as bad as his record suggests. His 4.37 ERA is actually five points better than the American League starter average, and he owns a slick 62:18 K:BB in 68 innings. Gausman's big velocity (94.8 mph average fastball) gives plenty to dream on, and if he can find a way to keep the ball in the yard (12 HR in as many starts), the 25-year-old has big upside.

Gausman (0-4) lost again Wednesday, giving up six runs on seven hits and two walks in only three innings against the Red Sox.

EDGE Analysis

After showing promise over his first four starts of the year, Gausman's returned to being his typical infuriatingly inefficient self, mixing solid outings with duds. The K:BB remains strong at 57:17, so don't be too quick to cut bait on him.

Gausman didn't factor into the decision against the Blue Jays on Friday, surrendering eight hits, three runs (two earned) and two walks over 6.1 innings. He struck out four.

EDGE Analysis

The 25-year-old failed to notch a victory for the second straight quality start, continuing to leave him winless on the season. Gausman threw 72 of 106 pitches for strikes, and kept a potent Blue Jays lineup largely at bay during his time on the mound. The southpaw had given up three homers in back-to-back outings to close out May, but has only given up a single round-tripper over the last 12.1 innings, which encompasses his last pair of starts. He'll face another tough group of bats in his next attempt at a win, as he'll take on the Red Sox in Fenway next Thursday.

Gausman allowed just one run with five strikeouts and two walks across six quality innings in Sunday's start versus the Yankees. He did not factor into the decision.

Gausman threw 70 of his 104 pitches for strikes Sunday and notched at least five punchouts for the fourth straight start, but his offense waited until the eighth inning to awaken and left him searching for his first win. Gausman has pitched much better than his record will reflect, as he now has a 3.52 ERA and a 1.17 WHIP through 11 starts, and he will look to find that elusive first victory Friday at Toronto.

Gausman struggled from the get-go, allowing back-to-back home runs to Mookie Betts and Dustin Pedroia to open the contest. He has totaled an impressive 15 strikeouts in 10 innings over his last two starts, but that's little consolation for the left-hander's 0-2 record and nine earned runs allowed in that span. Gausman will look to get back on track Sunday against the Yankees.

Gausman (0-2) struck out seven, but allowed four runs on five hits and a walk over five innings Thursday in a 4-2 loss to the Astros.

EDGE Analysis

Gausman's improved control this year has been an asset, but he was around the plate a little too much in this one, serving up three homers that accounted for all four runs. That said, his 37:9 K:BB in 41.2 innings remains quite impressive, so despite his lack of wins, Gausman is showing good signs that he's finally arriving as a legitimate mid-rotation starter. He'll make his next start Tuesday against the division-rival Red Sox.

EDGE Analysis

Although the O's ultimately won the game 3-1, they waited until the ninth inning to score, eliminating Gausman's chances of securing his first win of the season. Despite his 0-1 record, he has pitched extremely well since joining the rotation, as his 2.70 ERA will reflect, and will look to earn that elusive first victory Friday at the Indians.

Gausman (0-1) came away with a no-decision Sunday, allowing four runs on 10 hits and two walks over five innings while striking out only one in a 6-5 loss to the Tigers.

EDGE Analysis

He was actually in line for his first win of the season before Darren O'Day gave up back-to-back solo shots to J.D. Martinez and Miguel Cabrera in the eighth inning. Gausman now has a 3.00 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 24:7 K:BB through 30 innings and five starts, and will get another shot at win No. 1 on the road against the Angels on Saturday.

Gausman threw a quality start, allowing three runs in six innings, with nine strikeouts Tuesday against the Twins. He did not figure in the decision.

EDGE Analysis

Gausman continued his hot start while laboring his way through 111 pitches, his highest count of the season. He has fallen under some tough luck early and is without a win in his four starts. Gausman had struck out just seven in 14 innings over his last two starts, so getting nine in six innings is a nice change of pace even if the Twins are one of the top five strikeout hitting teams this season.

Gausman's scheduled start for Tuesday against the Twins will remain unchanged despite Monday's game getting postponed due to inclement weather, Roch Kubatko of MASN reports.

EDGE Analysis

Instead of getting pushed back a day, Tyler Wilson, who was the expected starter Monday, will simply move to Wednesday, allowing Gausman's schedule to remain unchanged.
