Justin Turner left Wednesday's game with a strained left calf.
As though the Mets don't already have enough infielders to worry about. Turner is the latest addition to a list that already includes second baseman Daniel Murphy and third baseman David Wright. The 28-year-old had only recently recovered from a sprained ankle that cost him some games earlier this spring. The Mets infield has the makings of a M.A.S.H. unit come Opening Day.

Justin Turner went 3-for-4 with two doubles and two runs scored versus the Tigers on Sunday.
With Daniel Murphy looking increasingly iffy for Opening Day, Turner is in position to be the Mets' second baseman initially. Of course, he's just getting over a sprained ankle himself.

Justin Turner (ankle) could return to the Mets' Grapefruit League lineup on Thursday afternoon.
Turner has been sidelined since Saturday with a sprained right ankle. He was able to work out on Wednesday, though, and reported feeling fine. Turner could start at second base to open the season while Daniel Murphy continues his recovery from a severe intercostal strain.

Justin Turner (ankle) will take swings and field on Wednesday.
Turner left Saturday's game with a right ankle sprain, but X-rays came back clean. He could return to game action as soon as Thursday. The 28-year-old could open the season as the starting third baseman if David Wright (strained intercostal) isn't ready.

X-rays on Justin Turner's right ankle came back clean.
Good to hear. It's not clear how long Turner might be sidelined, but the injury shouldn't affect his availability for Opening Day. He's expected to fill in at third base while David Wright is out.

Adam Rubin of ESPNNewYork.com hears that Justin Turner "likely will be dangled" as trade bait during spring training.
The reasoning is that the Mets could need to free up 40-man roster space, and they have other utility options in Brandon Hicks and Omar Quintanilla. Turner has batted .262/.330/.366 with six homers over the last two seasons for the Mets while starting games at all four infield spots.

Justin Turner is expected to get some reps in the outfield this spring.
"We talked about it at the end of the season last year," said Turner, referencing a conversation with Mets manager Terry Collins. "He told he wanted me to get out there, get some reps. I don't know if that means I'm going to be playing for a spot, or it's just another couple of positions to maybe get some more at-bats." Turner has never played the outfield in pro ball, but some extra versatility wouldn't hurt. The 28-year-old batted batted .273/.326/.373 with one home run, 17 RBI and a .698 OPS in 175 plate appearances last season while making starts at all four infield positions.

Justin Turner is expected to play with the Escogido Lions of the Dominican Winter League.
Escogido is managed by former Mets bench coach Ken Oberkfell. Turner, who previously played for the team two years ago, is hitting .273/.326/.373 with one home run, 17 RBI and a .698 OPS in 175 plate appearances with the Mets this season. Mets manager Terry Collins plans to add the outfield to Turner's resume next spring, so it's possible he could get some playing time there over the winter, as well.
