ESPN's Jerry Crasnick reports that the Twins and Josh Willingham have agreed to a contract, pending a physical.
We're still awaiting details on the contract, though Crasnick hears that it's a multi-year deal. Willingham, who turns 33 in February, batted .246/.332/.477 with 29 home runs, 98 RBI and an .810 OPS in 136 games this past season. Under the terms of the new CBA agreement, the Twins will not need to surrender a draft pick in order to sign him. His addition should create a domino effect among the remaining high-profile free agent outfielders.

According to Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com, the Twins and Josh Willingham have agreed on a contract.
No word on the terms, but it's likely less than the reported three-year, $24 million offer for Michael Cuddyer. Both are very similar players, but the benefit of Cuddyer signing elsewhere is that the Twins will receive two picks as compensation. Willingham, who turns 33 in February, batted .246/.332/.477 with 29 home runs, 98 RBI and an .810 OPS in 136 games this past season for the A's.

Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com reports that the Twins are nearing an agreement with free agent outfielder Josh Willingham.
Willingham is expected to make a decision within the next 48 hours and with the Indians effectively out of the mix, it appears an agreement should happen quickly. His addition would mean that Michael Cuddyer and Jason Kubel will almost certainly be playing elsewhere next season. Stay tuned.

Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports that the Indians are not "entirely out" on free agent outfielder Josh Willingham.
Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com reported earlier Tuesday afternoon that the Indians were out of the running for Willingham. Bastian isn't ready to go there quite yet, but also notes that they have yet to make an official offer and that budget constraints make it an unrealistic scenario. This would seem to give more credence to the notion that the Twins are the favorites.

The Twins are the front-runner for Josh Willingham, reports Ken Rosenthal of FoxSports.com.
We knew as much from Rosenthal's earlier reports, though RoboThal adds that "talks (are) still fluid" and "(Michael) Cuddyer remains on Twins' radar." Rosenthal has eliminated all known interested parties in Willingham, leaving just the Twins, unless an unidentified suitor is about to swoop in. There's been plenty of smoke surrounding Willingham this afternoon, so expect an announcement of his signing soon.

The Indians are out on Josh Willingham, reports Ken Rosenthal of FoxSports.com.
Either we've just been given Willingham's next destination, or things just got a whole lot more confusing. To recap: Willingham's agent, Matt Sosnick, said three teams were in on his client earlier in the day Tuesday. The three teams were believed to be the Twins, which Sosnick confirmed, and the Indians and Rockies were believed to be the other two. Rosenthal has since reported that the Indians, Rays and Rockies are out of the race, while the Twins remain in it. What have we learned? Either the Twins are Willingham's destination, or they are bidding against the always-intriguing "mystery team." Gentleman start your hash tags.

The Twins and Indians are still in the mix for Josh Willingham, while the Rays and Rockies are out, reports Ken Rosenthal of FoxSports.com.
Willingham's agent, Matt Sosnick, indicated earlier in the day that three teams were still involved in negotiations. He also said Willingham will make a decision in the next 48 hours, possibly as soon as Tuesday. The Rockies presumably have turned their attention to Carlos Beltran or Michael Cuddyer.

Josh Willingham's agent, Matt Sosnick, told the Minneapolis Star Tribune that his client will make a decision in the next 48 hours.
Willingham had reportedly been waiting for Michael Cuddyer's decision, but apparently he will strike first. Doing so might push up Cuddyer's timetable. "Josh has three viable options," Sosnick said. The Twins are confirmed as one of the three, while the Rockies and Indians are likely the other two. Cuddyer has a three-year, $25 million contract offer from the Twins but has been dragging his feet for awhile now. He is also being courted heavily by the Rockies. Minnesota would do well to ink the cheaper Willingham and take the pair of comp picks when Cuddyer signs elsewhere.

The Twins have been in contact with Josh Willingham's agents Monday, reports Darren Wolfson of ESPN 1500.
A deal is not close, according to Wolfson, who writes that the Twins are waiting for Michael Cuddyer's decision first. Cuddyer has a three-year, $25 million contract offer from the Twins but is being courted heavily by the Rockies. Willingham will probably come cheaper, is better offensively, and would allow the Twins to net a pair of draft picks when Cuddyer signs elsewhere, but Minnesota prefers the incumbent because he's a strong locker room presence and offers a bit of defensive versatility (though he's below average at alternate positions). Stay tuned.

Nick Camino of WTAM 1100 in Cleveland reports that Josh Willingham has narrowed his choices to the Twins and Indians.
Camino reported Saturday that Willingham was down to four teams, but he says the Rockies and Mariners are now out of the picture. The Twins are likely viewing Willingham as a back-up plan if they're unable to re-sign Michael Cuddyer. The Indians, meanwhile, have yet to make an offer to the 32-year-old but are having an ongoing dialogue with the outfielder's representatives.
