Josh Willingham's agent believes that his client will find a three-year contract this offseason. "My best guess is he will probably sign a three-year deal, and probably not with Oakland," agent Matt Sosnick told the Contra Costa Times. "I just don't think that's the position the A's are in right now." Willingham batted .246/.332/.477 with 29 home runs and 98 RBI this season while playing half of his games in a pitcher-friendly park. He should have multiple suitors.

Josh Willingham went 3-for-4 with a home run and four RBI in Monday's win over the Angels. He took Joel Pineiro deep for a three-run bomb in the first. Willingham's 25th homer of the season was his second of the month and 14th since the All-Star break. Set to hit the open market this winter, Willingham should be able to turn a .251/.333/.477 triple slash posted in the pitching-dominated American League West into a pretty nice contract.

Josh Willingham homered, doubled and drove in four runs on Friday, helping the A's whitewash the Red Sox 15-5 in Boston. Oakland was able to rope nine extra-base hits this evening, with five of them coming off Red Sox starter Tim Wakefield. As for Willingham, he's now batting .268 since the All-Star break to go along with 22 extra-base hits and 35 RBI in just 38 games.

SI.com's Jon Heyman reports that the A's are unlikely to trade either Josh Willingham or Coco Crisp. GM Billy Beane got plenty of bites on both players, but evidently nothing big enough to persuade him to make a move. Willingham had been linked to the Pirates, Red Sox and Braves, while the Sox, Braves and Brewers had been linked at times to Crisp.

FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports that the Yankees "checked on" Josh Willingham but didn't like the A's asking price. Willingham reportedly isn't going to the Pirates, either. It appears he'll either wind up in Boston or Atlanta. The outfielder is batting .248/.334/.445 with 15 homers and 56 RBI through 81 games this season.

Dejan Kovacevic of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports the Pirates have "definitive interest" in Josh Willingham. The Red Sox and Braves are also known to have some level of interest. Willingham, 32, has posted a .248/.334/.445 batting line with 15 home runs and 56 RBI in 81 games this year. His numbers would surely improve with a move away from the Oakland Coliseum.

ESPN's Buster Olney reports that the Red Sox have asked the A's about acquiring Josh Willingham and Rich Harden as a package deal. Olney cautions that it's "unclear whether it has a pulse now." Willingham boosted his trade value by homering twice Friday but is hitting just .248 for the year. Harden has pitched well since joining the A's rotation earlier this month, posting a 4.30 ERA and 1.16 WHIP while striking out a batter per inning.

Josh Willingham knocked in all five A's runs with a pair of homers Friday against the Twins. It'd be nice to see Willingham get a shot with a contender while still in his prime. He's batting just .248 this season, but he's been far and away the A's top power threat with 15 homers and 56 RBI. Some NL team needs to pick him up.

According to Buster Olney of ESPN.com, the Athletics have been "underwhelmed" in trade offers for Josh Willingham, David DeJesus and Michael Wuertz. In fact, the Athletics plan to keep them if the offers don't change. It's not necessarily the worst idea, since Willingham projects to be a Type A free agent while DeJesus would be a Type B. Meanwhile, Wuertz's contract includes a $3.25 million club option for 2012 or a $250,000 buyout. The Athletics have also reportedly made impending free agents Coco Crisp, Rich Harden and Conor Jackson available.
