The Twins have been in contact with Josh Willingham's agents Monday, reports Darren Wolfson of ESPN 1500. A deal is not close, according to Wolfson, who writes that the Twins are waiting for Michael Cuddyer's decision first. Cuddyer has a three-year, $25 million contract offer from the Twins but is being courted heavily by the Rockies. Willingham will probably come cheaper, is better offensively, and would allow the Twins to net a pair of draft picks when Cuddyer signs elsewhere, but Minnesota prefers the incumbent because he's a strong locker room presence and offers a bit of defensive versatility (though he's below average at alternate positions).
