Josh Johnson (shoulder) is scheduled to resume his throwing program at some point this weekend.
Johnson hasn't felt discomfort in his surgically-repaired shoulder for a couple of months and is fully expecting to be back to 100 percent health by the start of spring training next February. He'll be a high-risk, high-reward fantasy draft selection heading into the 2012 season.

Josh Johnson (shoulder surgery) is expected to resume his throwing program in two weeks.
"The shoulder feels great," Johnson told MLB.com's Joe Frisaro this weekend. "I haven't felt anything in a long time." He'll have to make it through the throwing program without setbacks to generate confidence that everything with his shoulder is back to normal, but for now the 27-year-old ace is on track for the start of spring training.

Marlins president of baseball operations Larry Beinfest said Josh Johnson (shoulder) remains on track to be ready for the beginning of spring training.
Johnson landed on the DL in mid-May due to shoulder inflammation and never made it back, though Beinfest indicated that JJ was close to returning late in the year if the team hadn't "ran out of time to get him into competitive situations." Added Beinfest, "Right now, we're anticipating him being ready to go at 100 percent in the spring. Again, you never know how things will go, but we're optimistic based on the way he finished up and the way he felt. It seemed like he's pushed through whatever was bothering him in the shoulder. He's gotten by that."

Josh Johnson is working to improve his posture while rehabbing his right shoulder injury.
A physical therapist suggested to the 6-foot-7 right-hander recently that his natural slouch may have led to his shoulder issues. "It's a matter of posture and a bunch of stuff that just kind of led up to it," said Johnson, who threw off a bullpen mound Monday for the first time since June. "Years and years of being tall, you're always slouching down. Your shoulder's not in a good place." He's aiming to get back to 100 percent health by the start of spring training next February.

Josh Johnson (shoulder) threw a short bullpen session Monday.
The workout only lasted about 10 minutes and Johnson only made around 25 throws, but it was his first time atop a mound since late June and he reported no lingering issues with his shoulder. The ace right-hander has been ruled out for the rest of this season. He is aiming to get back to 100 percent health in time for spring training.

Marlins GM Mike Hill remains hopeful that Josh Johnson (shoulder) will make it back to pitch for them this season.
"Still the plan," Hill said. Johnson has been throwing off flat ground for a while now as he tries to build up arm strength. It's not clear when he'll try to pitch from a mound. Hill said that even though the minor league seasons end soon, they can prep Johnson by giving him work in simulated games. "You can create whatever you need to create," Hill said. "We have ways to have him face hitters. We know that he can face major-league hitters. So as long as you're giving him what he needs to build up [he can return this season]."

Marlins GM Larry Beinfest remains hopeful that Josh Johnson (shoulder) can pitch in September, but he admitted that it might not be with the major league club.
Fantasy owners might not like it, but the important thing is that if Johnson is feeling healthy enough to pitch, even if it's not with the big club, that's the important thing. It should go without saying, but he cannot be counted on this season.

Josh Johnson (shoulder) threw for 10 minutes Monday at a distance of 75 feet.
Johnson resumed a throwing program last Wednesday and has yet to encounter any issues with his shoulder. He is scheduled to throw again Wednesday, but there's no word on when he'll attempt to pitch from a mound. While it's possible he could make it back with the Marlins in September, we aren't counting on anything in fantasy leagues.

Josh Johnson (shoulder) will play catch again Friday.
Johnson had a successful session of catch Wednesday for the first time since suffering a setback in mid-June. He still has a shot to make it back by September, but any more setbacks and he'll be shut down for good.

Josh Johnson (shoulder) played catch for five minutes Wednesday at a distance of 60 feet.
The Marlins ace has already experienced a number of setbacks and is unlikely to rush back into an intensive throwing program. He's been sidelined since late May with a shoulder injury and might not make it back this season.
