Fields (groin) was placed on the 15-day disabled list Wednesday, Jose de Jesus Ortiz of the Houston Chronicle reports. Fields' DL stint will be backdated to March 27, allowing him to return as soon as the second week of the season. The right-hander seems optimistic about his recovery thus far, and may be back in the minimum 15 days if he's able to continue throwing in the next few days. Fields, who whiffed 70 batters and showed an improved walk rate over his 54.2 innings last season, figures to work in a setup role for closer Luke Gregerson once he's activated from the DL.

Manager A.J. Hinch indicated Fields (groin) will not throw off a mound for a few days, but will throw from flat ground, Evan Drellich of the Houston Chronicle reports. Fields strained his groin in Monday's spring training game, but it doesn't appear to be a severe issue. At this point, he's still considered a possibility for Opening Day, but his progress from Wednesday until then should determine his availability.

Fields suffered a groin strain in Monday's spring training contest and will be evaluated further Tuesday, Evan Drellich of the Houston Chronicle reports. Fields had to be removed mid-inning, and won't travel with the team for Tuesday's spring training contest against the Mets. More information on a timetable should be available after Tuesday's evaluation, but with the 30-year-old likely to miss some time, his Opening Day status could be in jeopardy.

Fields was removed from Monday's spring training game with an unspecified injury, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports. Though the exact nature of Fields' injury isn't clear at this point, manager A.J. Hinch and the team's trainer came out of the dugout mid-at bat to visit with the pitcher. The fact that the 29-year-old had to be removed before getting through the current batter could be a bad sign, but more news should be available after the completion of Monday's exhibition contest.

Fields (hamstring) said his Tuesday bullpen session went well, mlb.com's Brian McTaggart reports. Fields is seemingly just bothered by minor hamstring tightness, as the issue did not prevent him from throwing. He'll likely open the season in a middle relief role, with the Astros now sporting a bullpen that includes Chad Qualls, Luke Gregerson and Pat Neshek.

Fields is dealing with hamstring tightness but is expected to throw Tuesday, MLB.com's Brian McTaggart reports. While Fields certainly isn't the favorite to close games for the Astros this season, he is someone worth paying attention to, as he has as much bat-missing stuff as anyone in Houston's bullpen. Injuries were a big part of his 2014 campaign, so hopefully his hamstring issue doesn't linger throughout the spring.

Fields is dealing with an oblique injury and is considered day-to-day, Evan Drellich of the Houston Chronicle reports. Fields hasn't pitched since Sept. 9 due to the injury, and it might make sense at this point for the Astros to shut him down. He had been seeing a few save opportunities prior to suffering the oblique ailment with Chad Qualls dealing with an injury of his own, but Qualls has since returned to reclaim ninth-inning duties.

Fields worked a scoreless ninth inning against the Mariners on Tuesday to earn his fourth save of the season. With Chad Qualls struggling in recent weeks, Fields has earned the last two saves for the Astros. The 29-year-old hasn't been scored upon in nine straight relief appearances, so it's possible he remains in the closer's role for Houston over the final three weeks of the season.

Fields took his fifth loss of the season in relief Monday night, allowing two runs on a hit and two walks with two strikeouts over an inning of work against the Twins. Fields (2-5) has been inconsistent this season, showcasing both his dominance and struggles as a member of the Houston bullpen. He's currently battling through a rough stretch, however, allowing six runs over his last five appearances.

Astros activated RHP Josh Fields from the 15-day disabled list. Fields missed nearly three weeks of action with a sore right forearm but is ready to rejoin the 'Stros bullpen. He holds a 5.93 ERA but has struck out 37 across 27 1/3 relief frames this season.
