Fields struck out three over two perfect frames during Tuesday's loss to the Rangers. Fields got a late start to his 2015 campaign after opening the year on the DL, but in four relief appearances for the Astros, he has a 1.93 ERA and 9:1 K:BB ratio over 4.2 innings.

Fields struggled Monday in just his second relief appearance of the season, allowing a run on three hits over a third of an inning against San Diego. Fields, who was activated from the DL less than a week ago after dealing with a groin injury, tossed 19 pitches (14 for strikes) to record his lone out of the game. With Tony Sipp, Pat Neshek, Chad Qualls and Luke Gregerson all pitching well in the late innings for Houston, there's a good chance Fields won't pitch in too many high-leverage situations until he shakes the rust off.

Fields was activated Wednesday night. Fields will be ready to pitch for Friday as the Astros take on the Athletics. He has made five rehab appearances with Triple-A Fresno and is set to return to a middle relief position in the bullpen.

Fields (groin) could be activated off the DL on Friday, CBS Sports reports. Fields has made five appearances as part of a rehab assignment with Triple-A Fresno, and has appeared to get through all of them without incident. When he does return, Fields figures to slot into a middle relief role in the Astros' bullpen.

Fields (groin) is slated to toss two innings for Triple-A Fresno on Monday, MLB.com's Brian McTaggart reports. Manager A.J. Hinch said that the Astros have a plan in place for Fields after Monday's outing, but was unwilling to confirm whether or not the right-hander would be activated from the disabled list after the outing. He's expected to work in middle relief for the Astros, where his high strikeout rate could give him some value in AL-only formats.

Fields (groin) needs to show he can throw on back-to-back days before rejoining the Astros, MLB.com's Brian McTaggart reports. Fields is already eligible to come off the disabled list, but the Astros will continue his rehab at Triple-A Fresno until they are sure his stamina level is major-league ready. Upon returning, the right-hander will likely serve in middle relief.

Fields (groin) will make a rehab appearance at Triple-A Fresno this weekend, the Houston Chronicle's Evan Drellich reports. It appears like he is nearing a return to the Astros' bullpen, and that could happen as soon as next week. Luke Gregerson appears to have a pretty solid hold on the closer's role in Houston, and Fields should pitch in the middle innings to start.

Fields (groin) threw off the mound Wednesday and should pitch in a simulated game in the next day or so, MLB.com's Brian McTaggart reports. He could come off the DL shortly after the simulated game, at which point he would start taking the ball in semi-high leverage situations for Houston.
