Fields failed to record an out Tuesday, allowing two runs on four consecutive hits during Houston's 7-5 loss to Texas.
EDGE Analysis
Fields entered the game in the bottom of the sixth inning in relief of starter Scott Feldman and promptly gave up two singles and two doubles before he was removed from the game for Chris Devenski. The 30-year-old right-hander sports an 11.37 ERA, 2.21 WHIP and 8:1 K:BB ratio over 6.1 innings this season. He'll continue to work in low-leverage situations for the time being.

Fields has made three Grapefruit League appearances, allowing five baserunners and one run over two innings.
EDGE Analysis
Fields had a productive season with the Astros last season, posting a career-best 3.55 ERA (2.25 FIP), 1.14 WHIP and 11.9 K/9. He'll pitch in middle relief in 2016 with Ken Giles, Luke Gregerson, Pat Neshek, Will Harris and Tony Sipp handling the late-inning duties.

Fields agreed to a one-year, $900,000 deal with the Astros on Friday, avoiding arbitration, MLB.com's Brian McTaggart reports.
EDGE Analysis
The 30-year-old righty was excellent last season in a middle relief role, posting a 2.19 FIP with 67 strikeouts in 50.2 innings. After Houston acquired Ken Giles this offseason, any realistic hope of Fields finding his way to saves seems to have evaporated, but he should still be a solid source of ratios and strikeouts in 2016.

EDGE Analysis
This makes it official that Fields will return to the Astros in 2016. The 30-year-old had his most successful MLB campaign last season in the Houston bullpen, posting a 3.55 ERA and 1.14 WHIP, which he'll hope to carry into next season.

Fields was recalled from Double-A Corpus Christi on Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
His third major-league season has been his best by far, as Fields has posted a 2.20 ERA and 0.95 WHIP in 43 appearances this year after posting ERA in the mid-to-high 4.00s the last two seasons. Fields has a 13-game scoreless streak going, with just four hits and two walks allowed over that span. As good as his ratios have been, though, his utility will be limited mostly to leagues that count holds.

Manager A.J. Hinch said Fields (leg) is available out of the bullpen Sunday against the Tigers, Evan Drellich of the Houston Chronicle reports. Hinch noted that Fields was ready to go Saturday if needed, but an excellent start from Lance McCullers made the reliever's services unnecessary. Fields has been dynamic while working in a setup role for the Astros this season, posting a 0.96 ERA, 0.85 WHIP, and a 16:3 K:BB ratio over 9.1 innings.

Fields has a bruised right leg and initial X-rays came back negative. Fields faced just two batters before being removed from Thursday's game after getting hit in the leg on a line drive and appeared to be visibly in pain as he left the field. So far the initial reports are encouraging, but there's still no clear timetable for how much time Fields may have to miss at this point.

Fields was removed from Thursday's contest after taking a line drive off his leg. Fields entered in the ninth inning of a tied game, but limped off the field with the help of the trainer after getting hit in the leg. The exact extent is unclear at this point, but more should become available after the completion of Thursday's game.
