The Brewers placed Lucroy (toe) on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday. It's not clear exactly how long Lucroy will be sidelined after breaking his left big toe in Monday's loss to the Reds, but he will miss at least the next two weeks. Martin Maldonado will be the Brewers' primary catcher in Lucroy's absence.

Lucroy sustained a fractured left toe in Monday's loss to the Reds and will be placed on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday. The nightmare season continues for the Brewers, who dropped to a league-worst 2-11 on Monday and already lost star center fielder Carlos Gomez (hamstring) to the DL just days earlier. Lucroy emerged as one of the game's premier backstops last season, but had gotten off to a rotten 7-for-45 (.156 average) at the plate before departing from Monday's game after taking a foul ball off the foot. The Brewers have yet to reveal an official timetable length for Lucroy, but a fracture would seem to imply that it will be well beyond the 15-day minimum. Martin Maldonado is slated to serve as the Brewers' primary catcher until further notice, while Juan Centeno will be recalled from Triple-A Colorado Springs to serve as his backup.

The Brewers confirmed that Lucroy was removed from Monday's game against the Reds due to a left foot injury, Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports. As was suggested earlier, Lucroy likely sustained the injury when his foot was struck by a foul ball in the sixth inning. There's still no definitive word on the extent of the injury, so Lucroy will retain a day-to-day tag until manager Ron Roenicke updates his condition. Martin Maldonado stepped in to replace Lucroy on Monday and would assume primary backstop duties for the Brewers if the injury sidelines the All-Star catcher for future contests.

Lucroy was removed from Monday's game against the Reds in the top of the seventh inning due to a suspected left foot injury, Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports. Lucroy fouled a pitch off his foot during his at-bat in the bottom of the sixth, which likely explains his early removal. There likely won't be any definitive word on his status until after the game, so it remains too early to speculate if the injury will keep him out of the lineup Tuesday. Martin Maldonado came off the bench to replace Lucroy behind the plate.

Lucroy went 2-for-4 with a walk and a run scored in Wednesday's loss to the Cardinals. Lucroy has still yet to homer or knock in a run in 2015, but he is showing signs of turning things around at the plate, tallying three hits and walking twice in his last two games. He continues to hit second for the Brewers despite his early-season struggles.

Lucroy is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Pirates. Lucroy has struggled heavily to start the season, managing only one hit in his first 22 plate appearances. He'll rest up while Martin Maldonado gets the start against Pittsburgh's Casey Sadler.

Lucroy has yet to record a hit two games into the regular season. Lucroy is 0-for-8 through two games, but the Brewers have totaled just two runs as a team, so he is not the only one struggling at the plate. Lucroy was slowed by a hamstring injury early in spring training, but he suffered no setbacks after making his spring debut in mid-March, so consider him healthy at this time. Lucroy, who is expected to see some action at first base when he is not catching, is hitting second in the Brewers' batting order, so he will have ample opportunities to break out of his early mini-slump.

Lucroy said he had no ill effects after running the bases for the first time Wednesday, Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports. Lucroy is still not 100 percent, but he's logged a few starts at catcher and appears to be progressing as expected. While the team has not made anything official, at this point Lucroy looks to have a good chance to be ready for Opening Day.

Lucroy started at catcher Sunday for the second straight day and went 1-for-3 with a home run, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports. Lucroy is still not running at 100 percent, according to Brewers manager Ron Roenicke, but it's a good sign that he was able to get behind the plate back-to-back days with Opening Day still three weeks out. Lucroy hit second in the order in his first two spring games, which may have helped maximize his at-bats, but also could have provided a hint as to where he will slot into the batting order when the real games begin.

Lucroy (hamstring) made his spring debut for the Brewers on Saturday and said he'll definitely be ready for Opening Day, USA Today's Bob Nightengale reports. Obviously it is not a lock that Lucroy will be available on Opening Day, as he could always suffer another injury or a setback with his hamstring issue. That said, it no longer seems necessary to put a discount on Lucroy's price tag on draft day, given the information at our disposal.
