John Danks (shoulder) is scheduled to pitch in a minor league game on Thursday in Arizona. Danks is still trying to rebuild the strength in his throwing arm after undergoing shoulder surgery last August. The White Sox are hoping he'll be ready by the end of April. Dylan Axelrod is filling in for now.

White Sox placed LHP John Danks on the 15-day disabled list with a shoulder injury. An expected move, as Danks is still trying to build arm strength following shoulder surgery. The hope is that he'll be ready to rejoin the White Sox at some point in April. Dylan Axelrod will take his spot in the starting rotation for now.

John Danks (shoulder) is scheduled to pitch in a minor league game Sunday. Danks claims that he isn't dealing with any setbacks in his surgically-repaired shoulder, but showed diminished velocity this spring and will open the season on the disabled list. The White Sox are expected to use either Hector Santiago or Dylan Axelrod as a placeholder until he's ready to return.

John Danks (shoulder) will begin the season on the disabled list. It was expected, and now it's official. Danks insists that his surgically-repaired shoulder is fine, but he has a 16.36 spring ERA and a 2.91 spring WHIP, and he has displayed diminished velocity in recent outings. The White Sox will use either Hector Santiago or Dylan Axelrod as a placeholder in the rotation, with Axelrod looking like the early favorite to get the nod.

White Sox pitching coach Don Cooper said that John Danks is still slated to make his next start on Sunday. Danks has really struggled this spring coming off shoulder surgery, posting a 16.36 ERA over 11 innings while showing diminished velocity, but the White Sox want him to get his work. Still, it's likely that he'll begin the season on the disabled list, with either Dylan Axelrod or Hector Santiago taking his place in the starting rotation.

John Danks was roughed up again Tuesday, surrendering 10 runs on 11 hits and two walks over 3 1/3 innings against the Reds. Yikes. Danks, who is coming back from shoulder surgery, now sports a 16.36 ERA and 2.91 WHIP over 11 frames this spring, and he's allowed a whopping 27 hits. His fastball has also failed to crack 90 mph. The left-hander says he feels fine physically, but the White Sox could choose to place him on the disabled list to start the season while he works out his issues. Hector Santiago would be an option to fill his rotation spot.

Despite the fact that John Danks says he feels well, the White Sox haven't been pleased with the way he's throwing the ball, and he could begin the season on the DL. Danks was hammered for six runs in 3 1/3 innings against the Angels on Saturday, and hasn't completely regained his velocity coming back from shoulder surgery. The White Sox do have capable fill-ins in the event Danks isn't ready to begin the regular season, so they would be wise not to rush him. He remains an extremely risky proposition in fantasy leagues.

John Danks was tagged for six runs over 3 1/3 innings Thursday against the Angels. Danks gave up seven hits -- including a solo homer to Mike Trout - while walking one and striking out a pair. He threw 38 out of 61 pitches for strikes. This was his second straight shaky outing, which isn't unexpected coming off shoulder surgery. That's exactly why he should be off the radar in mixed leagues for now.

John Danks allowed a run on two hits over two innings in his Cactus League debut Monday. The left-hander didn't record any walks or strikeouts. Danks has been brought along slowly as he makes his way back from shoulder surgery, but he's not far behind the other pitchers in camp. He'll be ready to roll for the start of the season.

John Danks (shoulder) is scheduled to make his Cactus League debut on Monday. Recovering from August shoulder surgery, Danks has thrown multiple bullpen and live batting practice sessions without encountering any setbacks. He obviously still has plenty of time to get ready for the beginning of the season. The left-hander is a risky fantasy option, though, coming off of surgery and a sub-par 2012 campaign.
