John Danks has been ruled out for the remainder of the 2012 season due to ongoing shoulder issues.
Danks was not making swift enough progress in his rehab and will undergo shoulder surgery on Monday. There's no guarantee that he'll be back to 100 percent health for the start of spring training next February. The left-hander posted a 5.70 ERA and 1.49 WHIP this season. He struck out 30 batters in 53 2/3 innings.

Manager Robin Ventura admitted Friday that John Danks (shoulder) will have to make significant progress soon to have a chance to contribute this season.
"It's getting to that point where it's going to have happen pretty fast for him to feel strong enough where he can come in here and pitch," Ventura said. "It's getting closer to that time, and if not, you kind of look toward next year." Danks recently started a new throwing program, but has yet to be cleared for a rehab assignment. The White Sox will likely provide an update on his status after he completes a 40-pitch bullpen session Monday.

John Danks (shoulder) threw another bullpen session Friday.
Danks recently started a new throwing program where he'll do more mound sessions as opposed to long-tossing. The southpaw admitted that he wasn't as strong as he wanted to be in Friday's bullpen session, but he's still on board with the plan. The White Sox are hopeful he'll be able to contribute in September.

John Danks (shoulder) is scheduled to throw a bullpen session Tuesday.
Danks was given the go-ahead after playing catch Sunday without incident. He'll likely need a couple bullpen sessions before facing live hitters. The White Sox are hoping he'll be ready to return at some point in August.

John Danks (shoulder) played catch again Sunday without any issues and could throw off a mound soon.
"I feel like I'm able to bounce back a little better after I have thrown a couple of days in a row," Danks said. "A few weeks ago I'd have been too sore to do anything really." The left-hander has been sidelined since late May, so he would figure to need at least a couple rehab starts. A return in late August seems likely if all goes well.

White Sox pitching coach Don Cooper said Thursday that John Danks (shoulder) is not close to returning.
"John is not feeling so hot," Cooper told WSCR-AM 670. "His shoulder is not feeling so good, we've made minimal progress with it and from my standpoint -- I don't mean this fully, I love John -- he's not on my radar right now. We would love to have John back, but that doesn't look like that's happening in the next two-to-three weeks at least." Danks has been on the disabled list since May 20. He'll aim to return by the middle of August.

John Danks (shoulder) played catch Tuesday.
The cortisone shot he received Monday apparently did the trick. Danks should return sometime in late July.

John Danks (shoulder) is expected to resume his throwing program Tuesday after undergoing tests in Chicago.
The White Sox just wanted him to get checked out to see how things were progressing, and evidently everything looked as expected. Danks should be able to resume a rehab assignment sometime around the All-Star break if all goes well.

John Danks (shoulder) will begin a strengthening program on Friday and is tentatively scheduled to begin a rehabilitation assignment in three-to-four weeks.
The White Sox announced that Danks was officially diagnosed with a mild Grade 1 strain of the subscapularis muscle in his left shoulder. Earlier, reports stated that Danks had torn the muscle, but strains are sometimes described as tears in medical parlance. The southpaw hasn't pitched for nearly a month due to left shoulder soreness and the best-case scenario for his return appears to be late-July. An August activation seems more likely.

John Danks was diagnosed with a Grade 1 sub-scapula tear of his left shoulder.
Danks will not need surgery to repair the tear, but there's no timetable for his return, either. It's probably safe to rule him out until after the All-Star break, at the very least.
