Rickard (thumb) suffered a setback Friday in his first test against live pitching, Eduardo Encina of the Baltimore Sun reports.
EDGE Analysis
Manager Buck Showalter said Rickard was only able to take a couple swings before he had to shut it down. As a result, Rickard is unlikely to be activated Monday (as was planned) and a return before the end of the season now seems questionable. The Orioles will likely dip into the system for some outfield depth in the coming days with Mark Trumbo (back) and Steve Pearce (elbow) also banged up.

Rickard (thumb) is expected to be activated Monday, Eduardo A. Encina of the Baltimore Sun reports.
EDGE Analysis
It will be the first day he's eligible to return after being placed on the 60-day DL, and it sounds like Rickard will be good to go after missing the minimum two months. The 25-year-old had a regular role in the outfield at the beginning of the season, but as the Orioles make their push toward the playoffs, it's unclear how many at bats Rickard will get down the stretch.

Rickard (thumb) was cleared for baseball activities Friday, Jon Meoli of the Baltimore Sun reports.
EDGE Analysis
Rickard is unable to return until Sept. 19 after being transferred to the 60-day disabled list Wednesday, but he will likely need a couple weeks to get back into playing shape anyway. Barring any setbacks, Rickard should rejoin the Orioles later this month and get a chance to stake his claim to a spot on the team's potential playoff roster.

Rickard (thumb) was transferred to the 60-day DL Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
This should effectively end Rickard's season. He has been out since mid-July with a thumb injury. He had recently had the thumb re-examined. The rookie hit .268 with 19 RBI in 85 games with the Orioles this season.

Rickard will have his thumb re-examined next Friday, Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
Rickard has been out since mid-July, and while the hope was that he could return in mid-September, a clearer picture should become available after his medical follow up. The 25-year-old got off to a hot start to the season, but at this point it's not clear that he would slot back into a starting role upon his return.

Rickard (thumb) saw a hand specialist Wednesday and the Orioles believe he will be able to return in mid-to-late September, MASN's Roch Kubatko reports.
EDGE Analysis
His thumb will be in a splint for two-to-three more weeks and considering he has not played since July 20, he will likely need some time at the team's complex in Florida before he is cleared to return to game action. The Orioles have enough options in the outfield that Rickard probably wouldn't play more than a couple times each week (against lefties) once he does return, so it will be difficult to extract useful production from him in most formats over the rest of the season.

Rickard (thumb) will begin a rehab program this weekend at Baltimore's spring training complex in Florida, MASN Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
It is likely Rickard will still be wearing a splint at that point, which will limit his baseball activities. His return date is still expected to be at least a few weeks away.

Rickard has been diagnosed with a high grade ligament tear in his right thumb and will wear a splint for three weeks, MASN's Roch Kubatko reports.
EDGE Analysis
An MRI revealed significant damage to Rickard's thumb, and doctors have recommended he keep the thumb immobilized for a few weeks. Once he sheds the splint, Rickard will need several weeks from there to ramp up his activity and ultimately complete a rehab assignment. He's hoping to be back in September.

Rickard (thumb) was placed on the 15-day DL on Friday, retroactive to July 21.
EDGE Analysis
Preliminary X-rays were encouraging but an MRI revealed a thumb ligament injury, and Rickard will need at least a couple weeks to get right. Dariel Alvarez was recalled in a corresponding move, and the O's may opt to rotate Alvarez, Nolan Reimold and Julio Borbon in left field until they get either Rickard or Hyun Soo Kim (hamstring) back.

Rickard (thumb) is out of the lineup Friday against the Indians, MASN's Roch Kubatko reports.
EDGE Analysis
He will be forced to miss a second straight start after injuring his thumb during Wednesday's game, with Julio Borbon taking over in left field. Rickard was seen without a cast or wrap in the clubhouse Friday afternoon, which would suggest his X-ray results were favorable, but he also had an MRI on the thumb and the team is still awaiting the results.
