Rickard (thumb) suffered a setback Friday in his first test against live pitching, Eduardo Encina of the Baltimore Sun reports.

Manager Buck Showalter said Rickard was only able to take a couple swings before he had to shut it down. As a result, Rickard is unlikely to be activated Monday (as was planned) and a return before the end of the season now seems questionable. The Orioles will likely dip into the system for some outfield depth in the coming days with Mark Trumbo (back) and Steve Pearce (elbow) also banged up.
