Rickard (thumb) saw a hand specialist Wednesday and the Orioles believe he will be able to return in mid-to-late September, MASN's Roch Kubatko reports.

EDGE Analysis

His thumb will be in a splint for two-to-three more weeks and considering he has not played since July 20, he will likely need some time at the team's complex in Florida before he is cleared to return to game action. The Orioles have enough options in the outfield that Rickard probably wouldn't play more than a couple times each week (against lefties) once he does return, so it will be difficult to extract useful production from him in most formats over the rest of the season.
