Kelly has been diagnosed with a Grade 1 strain of his right groin, and will miss his next start for triple-a Pawtucket, Scott Lauber of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Kelly was roughed up for seven earned runs in his last start for the Red Sox, and was subsequently sent to Pawtucket to work on some mechanical adjustments. Unfortunately, he suffered a right-groin injury in his Tuesday start, which has since been diagnosed as a Grade 1 strain. He will officially miss his next scheduled start, and there is currently no timetable for a return.

Kelly (groin) will likely miss his next Triple-A start, Brian MacPherson of the Providence Journal reports.
EDGE Analysis
Kelly left his last start after suffering a right-groin injury and was examined in Boston on Wednesday before making the determination to skip a start. It was his first minor league start since being sent down, as he struck out five and allowed three runs over 4.2 innings, but the club will likely want to ensure Kelly returns to full health before even considering calling him back up.

Kelly left Tuesday's game with Triple-A Pawtucket with a right groin injury, the Providence Journal's Bill Koch reports.
EDGE Analysis
Kelly has been working on some mechanical adjustments with the Red Sox's Triple-A affiliate, but may be sidelined for a spell after suffering a groin injury Tuesday. The Red Sox are waiting for a fifth starter to emerge as the season goes on, with Kelly hoping to be that guy if he could make some tweaks in the minors. His status will be updated when more details about the injury are released.

Kelly said he needs to make some mechanical adjustments, which he believes contributed to his lack of fastball command in Wednesday night's loss to the Orioles, the Boston Globe reports. "There's a couple of different things, arm slot dropping a little bit the last couple of starts, which is lack of fastball command," he said. "It's just something I have to stay on top of the ball a little bit better. Just need to command."
EDGE Analysis
Kelly has put up two consecutive horrific starts -- 12 runs allowed on 16 hits and six walks in seven innings -- and earned himself a southbound ride on I-95 to Triple-A Pawtucket. For whatever reason, Kelly seems to lose his mechanics quite easily. He'll get the opportunity to work on it in Triple-A, but who knows the shape and state of Boston's rotation when he does get himself right. If, say, Clay Buchholz gets a second chance as a starter and is pitching well, there'll be no room for Kelly. It has long been believed that Kelly has the stuff to be a good reliever. If that's the case, Kelly can be of use to Boston, who lost Carson Smith (elbow) for the season and needs to find setup help for Koji Uehara and Junichi Tazawa.

The Red Sox optioned Kelly to Triple-A Pawtucket following Wednesday's game, Rob Bradford of WEEI.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Kelly was tagged for seven earned runs in just 2.1 innings in Wednesday's loss to the Orioles and now owns an 8.46 ERA on the season, so the team decided to take advantage of a remaining option and give him some time in the minors to iron things out. The Red Sox will not necessarily need a fifth starter for the considerable future thanks to off days in their schedule, so it remains to be seen who will take Kelly's spot in the rotation. Reliever Noe Ramirez will take Kelly's place on the roster for the time being.

Kelly (2-0) pitched 2.1 innings, allowing 7 runs, 7 hits and 3 walks while striking out 1 in Wednesday's game against the Orioles. He did not factor in the decision.
EDGE Analysis
Since the right-hander returned from the DL (shoulder) on May 21, he's been inconsistent. In his first start back on May 21 against the Indians, Kelly flirted with a no-hitter. However, in his ensuing start on May 27 against the Blue Jays, Kelly lasted just 4.2 innings and gave up five runs on nine hits (including two home runs). Wednesday, he once again was knocked around pretty good, but luckily escaped without suffering his first loss of the season. The 27-year-old will take an 8.46 ERA and a 2.24 WHIP into his next start on Tuesday against the Orioles.

Kelly allowed five runs on nine hits, walking three and striking out eight, but lasted just 4.2 innings in a no-decision against the Blue Jays on Friday night.
EDGE Analysis
Kelly collected an impressive eight strikeouts, but he also struggled with location, needing 94 pitches (just 54 strikes) to record 13 outs. He also served up a pair of home runs as his ERA ballooned to 6.30 on the season. He has good stuff, but fights to maintain consistency, making him a risky fantasy play when he takes on Baltimore in his next start.

Kelly (2-0) surrendered only one hit and three walks in 6.2 innings of shutout ball during Saturday's 9-1 victory over the Indians. He struck out seven.
EDGE Analysis
Kelly made quite a statement in his return to the mound from a DL stint due to right shoulder impingement, carrying a no-hit bid into the seventh. Juan Uribe broke things up with a double to the right-center gap after the 27-year-old had recorded two outs in the frame, bringing an end to his afternoon after 104 pitches. Kelly will try to carry over the considerable momentum into his next start, which will come against J.A. Happ and the Blue Jays next Friday at Rogers Centre.

Kelly (shoulder) has been activated off the 15-day disabled list and he will start Saturday against the Indians.
EDGE Analysis
After missing a month due to a right shoulder impingement, Kelly will get the start Saturday at Fenway Park. Kelly got off to a rough start this season, notching a 9.35 ERA through three starts before landing on the DL. However, he did have a remarkable 11.42 K/9 in that stretch and he'll be facing an Indians team that strikes out 21.9 percent of the time.

Kelly (shoulder) will be activated off the disabled list to start Saturday's game against the Indians, the Boston Globe reports.
EDGE Analysis
Kelly made three starts while out on rehab, including his final outing when he got up to 92 pitches over 6.1 innings. The radar gun tracked him as high as 98 miles per hour on his fastball on his final pitch. "To the point of the progression of the number of pitches thrown, the velocity that he held, the command of his pitches all have been very solid," said manager John Farrell. "His work here yesterday in the bullpen was strong. So he's set to go."
