Hoffman (1-3) gave up six runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out seven through 4.2 innings to take the loss against the Mets on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
It was trouble from the very beginning as Hoffman gave up a three-run home run in the first inning and continued to give up hard contact throughout this outing. He did force 12 swinging strikes, but it just wasn't enough to make up for the repeated mistakes. His experience in the majors has not been impressive this season as he has given up at least five runs in three of his five starts and has an 8.06 ERA. Hoffman will look for better results in his next start Friday against the Padres.

Hoffman (1-2) allowed five earned runs on six hits and a walk while striking out seven across six innings to take the loss Tuesday against the Cubs.
EDGE Analysis
Hoffman was beaten by the longball, with three of his five earned runs coming from homers. The 26-year-old made his first road start of the season -- getting away from the treacherous Coors Field -- though that didn't solve his home run problem as he's let the opposition take him deep at least once in each of his last three starts. He now has a 7.29 ERA and 1.48 WHIP across 21 innings. More positively, he has a 22:5 K:BB ratio, skills that indicate he may deserve better results. He'll look to turn things around in his next start, currently scheduled for Sunday at the Mets.

Hoffman (1-1) earned the win Wednesday against the Diamondbacks, allowing three runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out six through five innings of work.
EDGE Analysis
The win was Hoffman's first since 2017 after getting sent down to Triple-A Albuquerque. The 26-year-old has failed to make a major impact since then, spending most of his time in the minors. Hoffman got the call up again May 24 and had some trouble with location in his last outing, but managed to turn things around Wednesday with pivotal strikeouts to work his way out of jams. Despite the improvement, Hoffman's ERA still sits at an ugly 7.20 with a 1.60 WHIP through three starts. His status in the rotation is yet to be determined, but with Kyle Freeland and Antonio Senzatela struggling, Hoffman has a shot to make another start again soon.

Hoffman allowed five runs on seven hits and two walks over five innings in Friday's 8-6 win over the Orioles. He struck out three and did not factor in the decision.
EDGE Analysis
Making his second start of the season, Hoffman struggled before exiting, but the Rockies were able to cover the damage to get him off the hook. Hoffman owns an 8.10 ERA and 1.50 WHIP through two starts this season. He has a tenuous grip on the fifth spot in the rotation, and will need to improve to continue seeing starts down the line.

Hoffman was recalled from Triple-A Albuquerque to start Friday's game against the Orioles, Kyle Newman of The Denver Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
As anticipated, Hoffman has been promoted to the big leagues and will toe the rubber for the series opener. He started one game earlier in the season April 23 against the Nationals, surrendering four runs while punching out six over five innings. Yency Almonte was optioned to Triple-A in a corresponding move.

Hoffman will likely be called up to start Friday's game against the Orioles, Nick Groke of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Hoffman, a former top prospect, has been a strikeout machine at Triple-A and in his lone MLB start this season, tallying 50 strikeouts in 40.2 innings across the two stops. However, he has not been successful at preventing runs in his harsh pitching environments, giving up 34 earned runs over those 40.2 innings. Given that it is a home start, he is a very unappealing streamer, assuming he is indeed tabbed as Friday's starter.

Hoffman could be promoted from Triple-A Albuquerque to start Saturday's game against the Orioles, Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
Due to a slew of off days, the Rockies have been able to get by without a fifth starter since Tyler Anderson was demoted to Triple-A on May 4. A need for another starter will finally arise Saturday, and Hoffman looks like the top candidate to fill the opening in light of his recent turnaround with Albuquerque. Over his last four outings, Hoffman has posted a 4.50 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 31:9 K:BB across 24 innings. With Anderson having since developed a knee injury that will require potential season-ending surgery, Hoffman could be in line for an extended stay in Colorado if he fares respectably in his initial outings.

Hoffman struck out 10 over 5.2 innings Sunday in Triple-A Albuquerque's 5-3 win over Fresno. He gave up two runs while scattering four hits and two walks.
EDGE Analysis
Hoffman has rebounded from a rough start to the Pacific Coast League season to accrue 27 strikeouts against five walks over his last three appearances. The improved control Hoffman has displayed of late could put him in position for a promotion to the big club when the Rockies require a fifth starter again May 25. Colorado is currently getting by with a four-man rotation following the demotion of Tyler Anderson, who hasn't pitched for the Triple-A club after experiencing left knee issues.

Hoffman was optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
With Kyle Freeland (finger) expected to miss just one start, Hoffman is no longer needed in the rotation following Wednesday's spot start. As such, he'll return to the minors to remain stretched out while Daniel Murphy (finger) takes his place on the active roster. The right-hander allowed four runs on six hits over five innings while striking out six in a loss to the Nationals on Tuesday.

Hoffman (0-1) took the loss Tuesday, giving up four runs on six hits over five innings while striking out six as the Rockies fell 6-3 to the Nationals.
EDGE Analysis
A four-run third inning did Hoffman in, but he otherwise was solid in the Coors Field spot start. He could return to Triple-A Albuquerque if Kyle Freeland (blister) misses the minimum as expected, but Hoffman would also be on schedule to take Sunday's start if the Rockies decide to replace the struggling Tyler Anderson in the rotation.
