Hoffman was recalled from Triple-A Albuquerque and will start Tuesday against the Diamondbacks, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander will start Tuesday after Jon Gray (ankle) was a late scratch. The severity of Gray's injury is unclear. Hoffman's appearance will likely only be a spot start unless Gray is forced to miss a second turn through the rotation. Hoffman carries an ERA of 6.57 in eight starts at the major-league level this year.

Hoffman was optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
The Rockies don't need a fifth starter until August 10, so Hoffman will head back to the minors for the time being. The 26-year-old righty owns a 6.57 ERA, 1.57 WHIP and 40:17 K:BB in eight starts (38.1 innings) with the big-league club this season, so he isn't a lock to reclaim his role as the team's fifth starter. Chi Chi Gonzalez, who is scheduled to start Saturday against the Reds, was summoned from the minors in a corresponding move.

Hoffman allowed three earned runs on four hits and four walks while striking out four across five innings Thursday against the Nationals. He did not factor into the decision.
EDGE Analysis
Hoffman held the Nationals scoreless through four innings, but was burned on a three-run homer by Anthony Rendon in the fifth inning. He wasn't particularly dominant however, as he allowed multiple baserunners in three frames and closed the third inning with the bases loaded. However, he should have a chance to stick in the rotation with the recent demotion of Antonio Senzatela. Assuming Hoffman takes his next turn through the rotation in order, he'll draw his next start Wednesday against the Dodgers.

Hoffman will enter the rotation and start Thursday against the Nationals, Mark Zuckerman of MASN Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Rockies will likely keep Hoffman available out of the bullpen for Wednesday's doubleheader, but don't expect manager Bud Black to call on him unless the team has already exhausted its other relief options. Though he'll at least avoid a start at Coors Field as he rejoins the rotation, Hoffman's lack of success at the big-league level makes him an uncomfortable lineup option in both DFS contests and season-long formats. Over 172.2 career innings, Hoffman has posted a 6.05 ERA (5.01 xFIP) and 1.59 WHIP.

Hoffman is expected to start Thursday against Washington, Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
Some reports when Hoffman was called up Sunday suggested that he'd pitch out of the bullpen, but there may have been a change of plans. The 26-year-old has made seven starts for the Rockies this season. His 6.75 ERA isn't good even when Coors Field is taken into account.

Hoffman will pitch out of the bullpen rather than as a starter in the immediate future, Nick Groke of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Hoffman was recalled Sunday after the demotion of Antonio Senzatela; however, he won't immediately slot into the rotation and will instead work as a reliever. Manager Bud Black did leave open the possibility of Hoffman working as a starter in the future. He has made seven appearances with the big-league club this season -- all of which had been as a member of the rotation -- and posted a 6.75 ERA with a 1.56 WHIP across 33.1 innings.

Hoffman was called up from Triple-A Albuquerque on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
Hoffman figures to immediately slot into the Rockies rotation after the team designated Antonio Senzatela for assignment Sunday. Hoffman has made seven starts with the big-league club this season, posting a 6.75 ERA and 1.56 WHIP with 36 strikeouts across 33.1 innings.

Hoffman was optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
Hoffman was unable to complete three innings Thursday and has a 6.75 ERA and 1.56 WHIP in seven major-league starts this season, so he'll make his way back to the minors. It's not clear who will slot into the starting rotation Tuesday for the Rockies.

Hoffman allowed one run on three hits with five strikeouts and four walks across 2.2 innings during a no-decision against the Diamondbacks on Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
Although he only yielded one run, because he allowed seven base runners in under three innings, Hoffman could make it even into the fourth. It took him 82 pitches to earn eight outs. His ERA did manage to decrease, but he is still 1-3 with a 6.75 ERA, 1.56 WHIP and 36 strikeouts in 33.1 innings this season. His next start will be Tuesday at the Giants.

Hoffman held the Padres to one run on three hits and two walks while striking out two over five innings in a no-decision against the Padres on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
Hoffman had given up at least five runs in three of his five starts, but tightened his reins to keep the Padres in check, surrendering his only run via a solo shot to Hunter Renfroe in the second inning. The 26-year-old has struggled to make much of a positive impact on the Rockies' rotation this season, compiling a 7.04 ERA, 1.47 WHIP and 31:9 K:BB over seven appearances (six starts). Up next, Hoffman will take on the Diamondbacks on Thursday.
