Hoffman was recalled from Triple-A Albuquerque and will draw the start against the Padres on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
Hoffman receives the major-league promotion in order to fill the spot in the rotation that opened up following Tyler Anderson's placement on the 10-day disabled list with left knee inflammation. He'll draw an attractive matchup against the light-hitting Padres during his first run through the rotation.

Hoffman will start Sunday's game against the Padres in place of Tyler Anderson (knee), Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Anderson is bound for the 10-day DL with left knee inflammation, so Hoffman may be in line for multiple starts if he can impress Sunday. The 2014 first-round pick showed his potential by posting a 3.29 ERA over 13.2 innings for the Rockies earlier this season, numbers he will look to improve upon as he makes his ninth career big league start. Hoffman lasted just 2.2 innings in an outing against San Diego last season, allowing seven runs (none earned) and six hits while throwing 84 pitches.

Hoffman could start for the Rockies on Sunday if Tyler Anderson lands on the disabled list, according to Bob Nightengale of USA Today.
EDGE Analysis
Nightengale reported that that Anderson was headed for the disabled list and that Hoffman would be called up to start Sunday, but another report -- from Nick Groke of The Denver Post -- indicated that Anderson is still hoping to start Sunday. Hoffman will be in limbo until a final call on Anderson's status is made, but if he does wind up on the DL, Hoffman would be the pitcher who takes his spot.

Hoffman was scratched from Friday's start with Triple-A Albuquerque, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
It's unclear as to the reasoning for the scratch, but Hoffman may be on his way back to the big leagues after lowering his ERA to 3.68 over eight starts at Triple-A this season. The 24-year-old could represent a better rotation option for the Rockies than Tyler Anderson and his 5.85 ERA, though that decision will likely be made sometime this weekend. Hoffman posted a solid 2.98 ERA and 15:2 K:BB in two starts for Colorado earlier this season.

Hoffman was optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque on Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
Hoffman will head back to Albuquerque to clear room on the roster for Trevor Story (shoulder), who was activated from the disabled list Tuesday. Hoffman pitched very well in his spot start Monday, tossing seven innings of one-run ball while striking out seven and walking none. While the outing wasn't enough to keep him in the big-league rotation for now, he'll likely remain one of the next men in line.

Hoffman (2-0) tossed seven innings of one-run ball in Monday's win over the Phillies, allowing three hits with no walks and seven strikeouts.
EDGE Analysis
Making his first appearance since he was sent down to Triple-A Albuquerque earlier this month, Hoffman put together the best outing of his career at the top level. He allowed just three men to reach base and was only breached in the fourth inning when Tommy Joseph's single knocked in Aaron Altherr. Hoffman also coaxed the Phillies into 10 swinging strikes while racking up an impressive strikeout total for the second straight start. The right-hander currently isn't scheduled to make another start for Colorado, but this stellar outing could very well keep him around for at least one more turn.

Hoffman was recalled from Triple-A Albuquerque and will start Monday's game against the Phillies.
EDGE Analysis
As expected, Hoffman will return to the big leagues in order to fill a rotation spot created by the inclement weather during their past series in Minnesota. His stay may be brief since the other rotation members will be back on schedule following Monday's contest, but he could raise his stock in the eyes of the Rockies' brass with a solid outing Monday night. To make room for him on the major-league roster, Raimel Tapia was optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque.

Hoffman is a candidate to make a spot start Monday against the Phillies, Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
With German Marquez having his start pushed back to Thursday after a rainout, the Rockies will need to deploy an extra starter for Monday's series opener in Philadelphia to avoid pitching Marquez on short rest. Hoffman seems to be the likely candidate, as he made a spot start against the Dodgers last week, allowing three hits while striking out eight through 5.1 innings en route to his first major-league win. He holds a 3.46 ERA through 39 innings (seven starts) with Triple-A Albuquerque this season.

Hoffman was optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque on Friday, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Hoffman shined in his first start of the season with the Rockies, fanning eight while allowing three runs in 5.1 innings pitched. However, with no opening in the rotation in the long-term, he'll return to Triple-A for more development. That being said, the pitching prospect seems like a logical candidate to make a spot start down the line given his success in his most recent start. To fill his spot on the big-league roster, Raimel Tapia was recalled from Triple-A.

Hoffman (1-0) struck out eight and gave up three earned runs on six hits and two walks over 5.1 innings in Thursday's 10-7 win over the Dodgers.
EDGE Analysis
Hoffman was a last-minute starter in place of Tyler Anderson, whose turn was moved back to Saturday. The 24-year-old righty was able to carry over the momentum he'd been generating at Triple-A Albuquerque, where he'd generated a 3.71 ERA and 1.12 WHIP over 34.0 innings. Hoffman fired 58 of 86 pitches for strikes and notched 14 swinging strikes overall while allowing just one home run, a solo shot to Scott Van Slyke in the fifth. His return to the minors may be imminent, but his performance certainly provided reason for optimism.
