Hoffman was removed from Wednesday's start against the Nationals with an apparent injury, Bobby Nightengale of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
EDGE Analysis
The 28-year-old threw only 20 of 46 pitches for strikes while walking five batters over 1.1 innings before exiting with the athletic trainer. It's unclear if the unspecified injury will affect Hoffman's next turn through the rotation.

Hoffman (3-3) earned the win Friday against the Brewers after tossing five innings of one-run ball, giving up two hits and four walks while fanning seven.
EDGE Analysis
Hoffman has given up at least one run in each of his nine starts this season, but at the very least he ended a streak of four straight outings allowing at least two runs while recording his first win since April 16. The right-hander has posted a 6.13 ERA this month, which is a marked increase of the 3.33 ERA he had in five April appearances.

Hoffman allowed five runs (two earned) on five hits and three walks with five strikeouts in four innings versus Colorado on Sunday. He did not factor in the decision.
EDGE Analysis
The 28-year-old got through three innings with little trouble, but Colorado struck for five runs in the fourth. Hoffman didn't help his cause much, as his throwing error led to a run. The right-hander has gone five starts without a win, and he's failed to reach the fifth inning in his last four outings. He has a 4.67 ERA, 1.53 WHIP and 32:18 K:BB across 34.2 innings. He lines up to face Milwaukee in next weekend's series.

Hoffman (2-3) took the loss Tuesday, allowing three runs on four hits and two walks over four innings as the Reds were downed 7-2 by the Pirates. He struck out four.
EDGE Analysis
For the third straight start, Hoffman failed to get past four innings as he tossed 46 of 75 pitches for strikes. The right-hander will take a 4.70 ERA and 27:15 K:BB through 30.2 innings into his next outing.

Hoffman (2-2) took the loss in Tuesday's 9-0 mauling at the hands of the White Sox, giving up four runs on five hits and a walk over 2.1 innings. He struck out four.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander needed 63 pitches (36 strikes) to record only seven outs in his shortest start of the season. Hoffman will carry a 4.39 ERA and 23:13 K:BB through 26.2 innings into his next outing.

Hoffman allowed three earned runs on one hit and five walks while striking out three across four innings of work Tuesday against the Dodgers. He did not factor into the decision.
EDGE Analysis
Hoffman threw only 38 of his 73 pitches for strikes and walked multiple batters in both the first and fourth innings. He managed to hold the Dodgers scoreless through three innings, but led off his final frame with two walks and then surrendered a home run to Will Smith. Now through 24.1 innings on the campaign, Hoffman has maintained a solid 3.33 ERA but has only a 19:12 K:BB. He's projected to draw the White Sox on Monday for his next turn through the rotation.

Hoffman was charged with two runs (one earned) on four hits and one walk while striking out four over five innings in a no-decision against the Diamondbacks on Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
This one ended up a 14-11 Diamondbacks win in 10 innings, but the starters were effective through the first half of the game, with Hoffman getting the better of Taylor Widener. Hoffman was able to largely overcome the shaky defense behind him, lowering his ERA to 2.66 through 20.1 innings with the Reds. Hoffman threw 88 pitches in this game after reaching 91 pitches in his previous start. He has allowed just two homers on the year even with three of his four starts coming at home in Cincinnati. Up next is a tough road test against the Dodgers.

Hoffman (2-1) picked up the win in Friday's 10-3 rout over Cleveland, allowing one run on seven hits and three walks over six innings while striking out four.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander found out earlier this week he would remain in the rotation after the return of Sonny Gray, and Hoffman celebrated with his first quality start of the season, tossing 58 of 91 pitches for strikes. He'll look to keep rolling in his next outing Thursday, at home against the Diamondbacks.

The Reds officially moved Jose De Leon to the bullpen Wednesday, which means that Hoffman will remain in the rotation, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Neither Hoffman nor De Leon pitched well over the weekend against the Diamondbacks, but the presumed favorite prior to the weekend was Hoffman. The decision was necessitated by the return of Sonny Gray from the IL. It might be likely that Hoffman could have some security in the role with Michael Lorenzen being placed on the 60-day DL, but it's still also possible that Tejay Antone, who threw 60 pitches in his last relief outing, could ultimately start.

Hoffman (1-1) allowed three runs on six hits and three walks while striking out two over 4.1 innings in a loss to the Diamondbacks on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
After inducing 13 swinging strikes on 77 pitches in a win over the Cardinals in his Reds debut, Hoffman managed just seven swinging strikes on 82 pitches Saturday. Two of the three runs charged to Hoffman crossed the plate after he exited the game, but the right-hander had issues with command during his time on the mound, as evidenced by the fact he had more walks than strikeouts. If Jose De Leon has a better outing Sunday, Cincinnati could opt to keep De Leon in the rotation over Hoffman with Sonny Gray (back) due to return next week.
