Hoffman could be promoted from Triple-A Albuquerque to start Saturday's game against the Orioles, Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
Due to a slew of off days, the Rockies have been able to get by without a fifth starter since Tyler Anderson was demoted to Triple-A on May 4. A need for another starter will finally arise Saturday, and Hoffman looks like the top candidate to fill the opening in light of his recent turnaround with Albuquerque. Over his last four outings, Hoffman has posted a 4.50 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 31:9 K:BB across 24 innings. With Anderson having since developed a knee injury that will require potential season-ending surgery, Hoffman could be in line for an extended stay in Colorado if he fares respectably in his initial outings.

Hoffman struck out 10 over 5.2 innings Sunday in Triple-A Albuquerque's 5-3 win over Fresno. He gave up two runs while scattering four hits and two walks.
EDGE Analysis
Hoffman has rebounded from a rough start to the Pacific Coast League season to accrue 27 strikeouts against five walks over his last three appearances. The improved control Hoffman has displayed of late could put him in position for a promotion to the big club when the Rockies require a fifth starter again May 25. Colorado is currently getting by with a four-man rotation following the demotion of Tyler Anderson, who hasn't pitched for the Triple-A club after experiencing left knee issues.

Hoffman was optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
With Kyle Freeland (finger) expected to miss just one start, Hoffman is no longer needed in the rotation following Wednesday's spot start. As such, he'll return to the minors to remain stretched out while Daniel Murphy (finger) takes his place on the active roster. The right-hander allowed four runs on six hits over five innings while striking out six in a loss to the Nationals on Tuesday.

Hoffman (0-1) took the loss Tuesday, giving up four runs on six hits over five innings while striking out six as the Rockies fell 6-3 to the Nationals.
EDGE Analysis
A four-run third inning did Hoffman in, but he otherwise was solid in the Coors Field spot start. He could return to Triple-A Albuquerque if Kyle Freeland (blister) misses the minimum as expected, but Hoffman would also be on schedule to take Sunday's start if the Rockies decide to replace the struggling Tyler Anderson in the rotation.

Hoffman will be recalled from Triple-A Albuquerque to make a spot start Tuesday against Washington, Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
With Kyle Freeland (finger) on the 10-day injured list, Colorado has chosen Hoffman to toe the rubber Tuesday night. The 26-year-old righty hasn't found much success in the minors so far in 2019, posting a 13.89 ERA with a 13:8 K:BB over 11.2 innings of work (two starts).

Hoffman could be recalled from Triple-A Albuquerque to make a spot start Tuesday against the Nationals, Kyle Newman of The Denver Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
Kyle Freeland was placed on the 10-day injured list Monday after he was revealed to have suffered a blister on his left middle finger, creating the need for a temporary addition to the rotation. With long man Chad Bettis making a 37-pitch relief appearance in Monday's series opener, the Rockies don't appear to have any viable replacements for Freeland on the active roster, so look for the team to delve into the minor-league ranks for a spot starter. Hoffman, who last pitched for the Triple-A club April 16, represents one of the more logical fill-in options by virtue of having a fresh arm and already possessing a 40-man roster spot.

Hoffman's scheduled start against the Braves on Wednesday has been postponed due to rain, 680 The Fan Atlanta reports.
EDGE Analysis
The game has been rescheduled for Aug. 26. Hoffman was expected to be summoned from the minors to make a spot start in place of the injured Tyler Anderson (knee) on Wednesday, but is no longer needed -- at least for the time being -- thanks to the postponement. While nothing is official, the Rockies figure to skip Hoffman's turn in the rotation and give Jon Gray the ball Thursday on regular rest. The young right-hander could be in line for a start early next week if Anderson isn't ready to return from the IL when first eligible.

Hoffman is expected to be called up to start Wednesday against the Braves, Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
Hoffman is expected to start in place of Tyler Anderson, who is on the injured list due to left knee inflammation. He hasn't been officially called up yet, as the Rockies may be waiting to see whether or not inclement weather in Wednesday's forecast will allow the game to be played.

Hoffman was optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque on Sunday, Nick Groke of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Chad Bettis (neck) was named the team's fifth starter Sunday, leaving Hoffman to open the season in the Isotopes' rotation. The flamethrowing right-hander posted a 6.63 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 17:5 K:BB through 19 innings this spring. He figures to be one of the next men up should an opening arise in the big-league rotation.

Hoffman is among the pitchers scheduled to pitch in the Rockies' exhibition opener Saturday versus the Diamondbacks, Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
Chad Bettis will start the Cactus League contest, with Hoffman slated to follow either directly behind him or after another reliever. Incidentally, both Bettis and Hoffman -- along with Antonio Senzatela -- will be vying for the final spot in the Colorado rotation throughout the spring. Of the trio, Hoffman pitched the least at the big-league level in 2018 (8.2 innings), but he's the most impressive of the group in terms of raw stuff thanks to a fastball that was clocked as high as 98.6 miles per hour during a training session this offseason, per Saunders.
