J.D. Martinez was scratched from Thursday's lineup due to a minor upper quad injury. Martinez tweaked his quad on Tuesday and has now sat out two straight contests. He'll be available to pinch-hit Thursday and it sounds like he should rejoin the lineup over the weekend.

J.D. Martinez racked up another multi-hit day on Sunday, going 3-for-4 with an RBI in a loss to the Royals. Martinez, who hasn't stopped hitting since being recalled by the Tigers, now has seven multi-hit games in July alone. The outfielder owns a .346/.380/.654 line through 55 games, and he should continue to be a strong fantasy option in the second half hitting in the middle of a potent Tigers offense.

J.D. Martinez finished 2-for-3 with a walk, a double, and three runs batted in as the Tigers routed the Royals on Thursday. Martinez has hit safely in all nine July games thus far. He drove in a run with a single in the fifth inning, another run with a double in the seventh, and hit a sacrifice fly in the ninth. The outfielder is having a break-out season, slashing .335/.373/.648 with 12 home runs and 41 RBI.

J.D. Martinez went 3-for-5 with a triple and two runs scored in Tuesday's trampling of the Dodgers. Martinez has hit safely in all seven July games thus far. He has swung the bat into regular playing time, as he has arguably been the Tigers' best hitter this season. Martinez owns a .328/.391/.599 slash line with 12 home runs and 38 RBI in only 183 plate appearances. Over a full season's worth of playing time (650 PA), that would put him on pace for 43 home runs and 135 RBI.

J.D. Martinez homered for the second consecutive game, and 12th time of the year, in Sunday's loss to the Rays. He victimized All-Star left-hander David Price in the ninth inning of this one. He has been out of this world at the plate since joining the Tigers, slashing .323/.360/.640 with the aforementioned 12 home runs and 38 RBI. Fantasy owners who bought in early are reaping serious rewards at the moment.

J.D. Martinez continued to swing a hot bat in Friday's loss to the Rays, going 2-for-3 with a double. Martinez also walked in the contest, reaching in three of his four plate appearances. He has been a tremendous find for the Tigers to this point, slashing .327/.365/.622 with 10 homers and 36 RBI. While he can't continue at this pace, he's capable of being a passable outfield option in mixed leagues for the remainder of the season.

J.D. Martinez went 2-for-4 with a double and a two-run home run in Tuesday's win over the Athletics. Martinez was scorching hot in June, blasting seven home runs with a .702 slugging percentage. He wasted no time bringing it into July, taking Brad Mills deep for a two-run home run in the sixth inning, padding the Tigers' lead to 3-0. Martinez now has 10 home runs, 34 RBI, and a .317/.354/.628 slash line in 158 plate appearances.

J.D. Martinez homered again Wednesday in the Tigers' 8-6 win over the Rangers. Martinez hit an RBI double to center field in the Tigers' three-run first inning and then slugged a solo shot in the top of the fifth. He's now batting .320 with a 1.004 OPS, nine home runs, and 31 RBI in 38 games since his April 21 promotion to the majors and is a must-own right now in all standard mixed fantasy leagues. Martinez claims to have made significant changes to his swing since flaming out in Houston, and at this point it's easy to believe that often-overplayed narrative.

J.D. Martinez went 2-for-5 with a home run and two RBI in a win over the Rangers on Tuesday. Martinez also doubled in the contest, giving him nine extra-base hits over his last eight games. Five of those have been home runs, as he's got eight in 37 games this year. Torii Hunter will return to the Tigers' lineup on Wednesday, but Martinez and his .314/.346/.619 line aren't going anywhere.

J.D. Martinez is crediting his success to an overhaul of his swing that began last season. Martinez watched video of Miguel Cabrera and other great hitters before he "decided to change my swing -- completely." The 26-year-old said he "dropped my hands low, got a smoother stride and a straighter stance." Martinez doubled and launched a two-run homer Tuesday and is now batting .314/.346/.619 with eight homers and 29 RBI over 37 games for the Tigers this season. He needs to be owned in all mixed leagues at this point.
