Martinez (back) is in the starting lineup Thursday against the Twins.
Martinez left Wednesday night's game with lower back tightness, but that won't hold him out of the afternoon contest the very next day. He won't play the field, however, instead serving as the designated hitter and batting cleanup with Victor Martinez getting the day off.

Martinez currently leads the Tigers with five home runs and 14 RBI, but his 20:3 K-to-BB rate have contributed to a .291 OBP, a number well below his career average (.318).
There are a lot of hard swings when Martinez is at the dish and he's certainly delivering power (.526 slugging) when he connects. But we're watching that K:BB rate, as it's going to come back and bite fantasy owners at some point this season.

Martinez went 1-for-4 Saturday with a solo shot, his fifth home run of the season.
He didn't hit his fifth homer of 2014 until mid-June, so he's just a bit ahead of last year's pace. Fantasy owners who bet against a big regression from Martinez are, at least in the early going, being amply rewarded.

Martinez went 2-for-4 with his second homer and three RBI in Thursday's win over the Twins.
He's off to a strong start to the season, with extra-base hits in all three games of the opening series against Minnesota. After unexpectedly breaking out last year, Martinez is going to have to prove that he's for real this season. So far, so good.
