Taillon (groin) ia scheduled to pitch for Double-A Altoona on Sunday, Stephen J. Nesbitt of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
EDGE Analysis
After tossing a successful bullpen session Tuesday, Taillon is ready to take the mound in a minor-league game just three weeks after he underwent surgery for testicular cancer. The Pirates haven't announced a further plan for Taillon, though more will likely be known following his outing Sunday.

Taillon (groin) threw a 35-pitch bullpen session Thursday, Adam Berry of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
This outing was deemed "more competitive" than Tuesday's workout, per Berry, and is a positive sign for Taillon, who underwent surgery for testicular cancer on May 8. Expect Pittsburgh to release more details on the right-hander's upcoming schedule and prognosis for a possible return in the coming weeks.

Taillon (groin) responded well following Tuesday's bullpen session and will throw another one Thursday, Adam Berry of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
This is very encouraging news, although there is still no timetable for his return to full action. Taillon will likely be evaluated after Thursday's outing, which should clarify the next steps in his rehab process.

Taillon (groin) threw a 25-pitch bullpen session Tuesday, Stephen Nesbitt of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
EDGE Analysis
While there's still no timetable for Taillon's return, it's extremely encouraging that he's already throwing bullpens just two weeks removed from having surgery for testicular cancer. Nesbitt added that Taillon mixed in all of his pitches during Tuesday's bullpen session and also had a weight room session. Taillon is scheduled to play catch Wednesday before the Pirates decide on the next step of his throwing program.

Taillon (groin) was cleared to play catch and resume light cardio drills Wednesday, Stephen J. Nesbitt of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
EDGE Analysis
Taillon also had a pathology report come back positive for testicular cancer, so he's not completely out of the woods at this point. According to Nesbitt, he next step is to be re-examined next week to determine if the cancer has spread to any other part of his body. More information should be available following this check-up.

Speaking on his Sunday radio show, general manager Neal Huntington said he was pleased with Taillon's (testicular cancer) progress but noted that it was still too early to give a timetable for return.
EDGE Analysis
"Our fingers are crossed, he's chomping at bit, so far, so good, but he's got some markers to cross," Huntington said. "There are still some unknowns. It's too early to dive into anything at this point." The Pirates are handling Taillon's situation with the utmost caution, but the initial post-surgery indicators sound encouraging.

Taillon was treated for suspected testicular cancer Monday, Stephen J. Nesbitt of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
EDGE Analysis
This awful news comes after Taillon was placed on the disabled list with groin discomfort Saturday. A timetable for return obviously remains uncertain at this point, as his health and well-being remain the number one concern. Trevor Williams is occupying Taillon's spot in the rotation for the time being, though it's unclear if he'll continue to do so in an extended absence. Hopefully everything comes out well and he works toward a speedy recovery.

Taillon was placed on the 10-day DL on Saturday with groin discomfort, Stephen J. Nesbitt of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
EDGE Analysis
Josh Lindblom was recalled in a corresponding move, but Trevor Williams is slated to fill Taillon's spot in the rotation beginning Monday against Los Angeles. The Pirates did not immediately provide a timetable for Taillon's return to action. The 25-year-old right-hander gave up six runs against the Reds on Wednesday, just one fewer than he allowed in his first five starts combined.

Taillon has allowed 11 earned runs on 18 hits and six walks in 15.1 innings covering his last three starts. He's struck out 14 batters over the span, the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports. "The stuff was great tonight," Taillon said. "That's why it's tough. You only get a handful of nights here where you feel that good and crisp and clean, and the ball is flying out of your hand. So it was poor execution, maybe second-guessing some of my shakes and pitch selection."
EDGE Analysis
Prior to Wednesday, the righty had limited opponents to one earned run in 19 road innings. Surprisingly, walks have hindered his performance. Taillon has walked 13 batters in 35.1 innings after issuing only 17 free passes in 104 innings as a rookie. He's upped his average fastball velocity from 94.3 mph to 95 mph, but the future ace is still figuring things out at the big-league level.

Taillon (2-1) gave up six runs on eight hits and a walk while striking out six over five innings in Wednesday's road loss to the Reds.
EDGE Analysis
All the runs came on three-run homers in the first and fourth innings, doubling Taillon's homer total for the season. The 25-year-old righty has had a couple duds early on here in his first full MLB campaign, and we're still waiting to really see his swing-and-miss stuff come out, but Taillon remains a credible fantasy starter with the potential to figure it all out and become elite.
