Taillon allowed two runs on five hits and two walks across 6.1 innings in a no-decision Sunday against the Padres. He struck out eight.
EDGE Analysis
Taillon got off to a bumpy start by allowing two runs on two, hits, a walk and a wild pitch in the first inning. He settled down masterfully after that point, however, and allowed just four baserunners over the next five frames. Taillon was in line to earn his seventh victory when he departed, but a blow save by Felipe Rivero sent that opportunity by the wayside. This was a nice bounce-back performance after the 25-year-old allowed a whopping 17 earned runs over his previous 6.2 innings, and he will look to build on this effort Friday against the Blue Jays.

Pittsburgh trainer Todd Tomczyk said Wednesday that Taillon, who has struggled in four post All-Star break starts, is not dealing with any health problems. "Absolutely not," Tomczyk told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. "This guy's mental fortitude ... he sets the standard. I think you see a young pitcher just wanting to win. He's competing his butt off."
EDGE Analysis
It's not unusual for a young pitcher to suffer from fatigue late in seasons, but Tomczyk noted that Taillon's velocity has remained consistent despite his struggles. In the 25-year-old's start on July 25 in San Francisco, replays showed Taillon pitching with what appeared to be a discolored and bruised middle finger on his right hand, but the team has made no mention of that ailment as a stumbling block.

Taillon allowed eight earned runs on 11 hits and one walk in 3.2 innings Tuesday. He struck out three batters.
EDGE Analysis
He's surrendered 23 runs in his last four starts, throwing a whopping 360 pitches in 17 innings. Taillon's fastball velocity Tuesday (95.5 mph) nearly mirrors his season average (95.6), but opposing batters look comfortable and appear to know what's coming. The 25-year-old has battled through testicular cancer and undergone numerous surgeries (including Tommy John surgery), but there has been no word yet from the team about a new injury, nor has there been mention of Taillon possibly being skipped.

Taillon (6-4) allowed 10 runs (nine earned) on nine hits and a walk while striking out one batter over three-plus innings during Tuesday's 11-3 loss to the Giants.
EDGE Analysis
It was a night to forget for Taillon, who clearly didn't have his best stuff working for him in what turned out to be the worst start of his young major-league career. The 25-year-old breezed through the opening inning before being blistered for a career-high nine earned runs over the following two-plus frames. The disastrous outing raised his season ERA nearly a full point, from 3.08 to 4.03. He'll look to rebound in a big way in his upcoming scheduled start against the Reds next Tuesday.

Taillon (6-3) picked up the victory Thursday against the Brewers, allowing two runs on six hits and two walks while striking out eight across 5.1 innings pitched.
EDGE Analysis
Although he didn't notch a quality start, Taillon held the Brewers at bay all afternoon. His 116 pitch count also seems high at first glance, but it was mostly due to the Brewers fouling off a number of pitches, as 74 of his offerings crossed the plate. Since June 29, the 25-year-old has been excellent, allowing just six runs and striking out 26 in 21.2 innings of work. He'll look to keep the good times rolling in his next scheduled start Tuesday in San Francisco.

Taillon (5-3) allowed four runs on eight hits while striking out five across five innings to take the loss on Saturday against the Cardinals.
EDGE Analysis
Taillon did quite well his first time through the lineup, but he then allowed a run in the fourth inning and three more in the fifth, as the Cardinals chased him from the contest. His poor effort comes on the heels of him having allowed just two runs over his last three starts, and he should be a player who's earned plenty of trust from fantasy owners, especially as he currently boasts a 3.06 ERA. He'll make his next start Thursday against the Brewers.

Taillon will start Saturday against the Cardinals and Thursday against the Brewers, Stephen J. Nesbitt of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander's spot in the rotation heading into the second half was unknown due to a recent bout with flu-like symptoms. Taillon missed out on a potential two-start assignment next week but remains worth using in most fantasy games regardless of matchup. He sports a 2.73 ERA with 8.5 K/9 and 3.2 BB/9 over 11 starts this season.

Taillon will not make his first start of the second-half until Thursday against the Brewers, Stephen J. Nesbitt of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander will be held off due to his recent bout with flu-like symptoms and perhaps partly to rest him for workload management, following his recent bout with testicular cancer. Taillon has produced sparkling numbers this year, with a 2.73 ERA, 8.5 K/9 and 3.2 BB/9 over 11 starts, and should continue locking into most fantasy lineups regardless of matchup.

Taillon was scratched from Sunday's start with flu-like symptoms. Chad Kuhl will start in his place, but is unlikely to go deep into the game, as he threw 95 pitches in Thursday's start.
EDGE Analysis
This news did not come down until shortly before first pitch. It is unclear when Taillon's first start of the second half will come, but he could be an option for next weekend's series against the Cardinals.

Taillon has been scratched from his Sunday start, according to The Fan 93.7 in Pittsburgh.
EDGE Analysis
Taillon was warming up in the bullpen Sunday afternoon when he left the mound. There are no immediate details as to why he was scratched. Chad Kuhl is expected to start in his stead.
