Jake Odorizzi lasted just two innings in a no-decision against the Indians on Saturday, yielding one run on two hits. Odorizzi also issued three walks. He struggled with his command in the brief outing, needing 65 pitches to record just six outs. The 22-year-old right-hander posted a 4.91 ERA and 4/4 K/BB ratio over 7 1/3 innings in his first two major league starts. Still, he's likely to enter the 2013 season as a favorite to win a spot in the Royals' rotation.

Jake Odorizzi allowed three earned runs in 5 1/3 innings Sunday in a loss to the Indians. It was the 22-year-old right-hander's major league debut. He struck out three and issued just one walk, but the Indians netted six hits (including one home run) and then obliterated the Kansas City bullpen. Odorizzi should get at least one more start before the end of the season but isn't worth trying yet in most fantasy leagues.

Jake Odorizzi is expected to make his first major league start Saturday against the Indians. The Royals had been wanting to get him into a game in relief since he hadn't pitch since September 11, but it appears they might just have him throw on the side to stay sharp. Arguably the team's top pitching prospect, Odorizzi put up a 3.03 ERA and 135/50 K/BB ratio between Double- and Triple-A this season.

Royals purchased the contract of RHP Jake Odorizzi from Triple-A Omaha. Odorizzi had to be added to the 40-man roster in order to be protected from this winter's Rule 5 draft, anyway, but the Royals want to give him a late-season look. The right-hander put up a 3.03 ERA and 135/50 K/BB ratio between Double- and Triple-A this season. Having already thrown 145 1/3 innings, Odorizzi's workload over the final weeks won't be substantial.

Royals pitching prospect Jake Odorizzi is a candidate to be called up this month. Manager Ned Yost said "a couple of more guys" would be called up from Triple-A Omaha once their season concludes. Indications are that it will be players that are either already on the 40-man roster or those that will need to be added to it in order to be protected from the Rule 5 draft. That would rule out Wil Myers, but Odorizzi qualifies for the latter stipulation. However, he's already at 145 1/3 innings this season and could possibly throw more for Omaha, so the Royals might decide against adding to his workload. The righty boasts a 3.03 ERA and 135/50 K/BB ratio between Double- and Triple-A this year.
