Odorizzi (7-8) shut out the Tigers over six innings in Thursday's rout, striking out six while allowing six hits and a walk.
EDGE Analysis
After giving up nine runs over his last two outings, Odorizzi kept things under control this time,, posting his first scoreless outing in nearly two months. It's been an uneven second half for the talented 25-year-old hurler, but he's shown plenty of promise and could be priced attractively in daily leagues down the stretch.

Odorizzi allowed five runs on three hits, walking two and striking out eight over 6.2 innings of a 5-2 loss to the Yankees on Friday night.
EDGE Analysis
Odorizzi (6-8, 3.35 ERA) was a victim of the long ball with all three of the hits he allowed landing in the seats. While his peripherals are respectable, and he recently strung together a run of five quality starts in six outings, the end results have not translated into a winning record. There are certainly positive aspects of his game, so he would be difficult to ignore in most fantasy formats.

Odorizzi took the loss Saturday, allowing four runs on seven hits and two walks over 4.2 innings while striking out five.
EDGE Analysis
That ended a streak of six straight starts in which Odorizzi had worked at least six innings. His 3.18 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 117:33 K:BB ratio in 133 innings on the year are still solid, but he'll have his work cut out for him in his next outing, on the road Friday in Yankee Stadium.

Odorizzi (oblique) returned from the 15-day disabled list Saturday to pick up his fifth win of the season while facing the Astros. He ultimately pitched 5.2 innings, giving up just two hits and three walks while striking out five. Odorizzi's ERA was lowered to 2.30 after Saturday's start since he held the Astros scoreless during his Saturday outing. He showed no signs of rust despite his month-long absence, and consequentially he'll remain a viable option when he takes the mound for his next start.

Odorizzi (oblique) struck out five batters over 5.2 scoreless innings in Monday's rehab start for High-A Charlotte, MiLB.com reports. Odorizzi pitched well in both of his rehab starts, allowing one run over 9.2 combined innings. He's expected to rejoin the rotation Saturday against the Astros, leaving Alex Colome to either pitch in the minors or out of the bullpen.

Odorizzi (oblique) will get one more rehab start before returning to the Rays' rotation against the Astros, the Tampa Bay Times' Roger Mooney reports. He will presumably get the start July 11 at home against Houston, replacing Alex Colome in the rotation. Odorizzi was pitching like an All-Star prior to his injury, and should still be thought of very highly going forward.

Odorizzi (oblique) allowed one run off two hits across 4.0 innings in his first rehab start at High-A Charlotte, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports. Odorizzi's quote to Charlotte Sun reporter Josh Vitale is especially encouraging, saying "I feel like the stuff I had today, I could have taken into today's (Rays) game and been perfectly fine." If Odorizzi's stuff is working and he feels okay, there probably isn't any reason to push him into a rehab start. If so, his next start will be with the big league club in four or five days.

Odorizzi (oblique) to make a rehab start with High-A Charlotte on Wednesday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports. Odorizzi, originally scheduled to pitch Thursday, will move up to Wednesday to have him and Matt Moore pitch on different days. He will make either one or two rehab starts before rejoining the Rays' rotation in early-July.

Odorizzi (oblique) will make a rehab start Thursday with High-A Charlotte on Thursday, and could rejoin the rotation after that, Roger Mooney of The Tampa Tribune reports. Odorizzi threw 30-45 pitches of BP Saturday, and continues working his way back to the rotation. He indicated June 22 that he planned on rejoining the rotation in a couple of weeks, and if he's ready following the rehab start Thursday, that would indeed be the case.

Odorizzi (oblique) will throw 30-45 pitches of batting practice Saturday and plans to start a rehab assignment afterward, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports. Odorizzi has been hoping to return by early-to-mid June, so starting a rehab assignment in the next few days will be key. When he does come back, there are going to be a few members of the rotation that Tampa Bay will be happy to replace.
