Odorizzi (4-5) allowed two runs on seven hits and a walk over six innings Sunday, striking out seven, to pick up the win over the Orioles.
EDGE Analysis
It was Odorizzi's first quality start since June 19 and just his seventh on the season in 20 trips to the mound. He threw 65 of 100 pitches for strikes and generated 17 swinging strikes, with his only real mistake getting deposited in the left field seats by Pedro Alvarez, but serving up homers has been Odorizzi's Achilles heel all year. He'll get his next start Friday in Oakland.

Odorizzi (3-5) gave up four runs on six hits and a walk over five innings Sunday, striking out four, in a loss to the Red Sox.
EDGE Analysis
He wasn't particularly sharp, throwing 52 of 86 pitches for strikes and generating just six swinging strikes, but with David Price dealing for Boston, Odorizzi would have needed to be just about perfect to have a shot at a win. He's managed just one quality start over his last six outings, adding a full run to his ERA over that stretch to send it soaring to a season-high 4.47 heading into the All-Star break.

Odorizzi (3-4) was tagged for a season-high seven runs on nine hits while walking two and striking out four over 5.1 innings in Tuesday's loss to the Angels.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander's inconsistency this season is enough to drive owners insane. Odorizzi was sporting a fine-looking 3.36 ERA through the season's first two months, but then posted a 4.96 ERA in June, and now got blasted in his first start of July. Over the past three seasons, he's been historically worse in the second half of the year, and his performance in recent weeks would indicate more of the same is on the way.

Odorizzi (3-3) allowed two runs on three hits and three walks while striking out seven over five innings, but received no decision Thursday against the Tigers.
EDGE Analysis
Odorizzi was staked to a five-run lead through five innings before giving up a pair of runs before retiring a hitter in the sixth inning, forcing his exit from the contest. Unfortunately, the bullpen blew his three-run lead, keeping him from a potential victory. He's now failed to post a quality start in four of his last five outings, and his ERA is at 3.91 on the year. He'll make his next start Tuesday against the Angels.

Odorizzi (3-3) took a no-decision, allowing five runs on eight hits over six innings, including three homers in a loss to the Orioles on Saturday night. He also struck out one and walked one.
EDGE Analysis
Tampa Bay spotted Odorizzi a four-run lead, but he left with just a one-run cushion after six. When Odorizzi has run into trouble this season, it's usually been because of homers. Since May 13, he's allowed 12 bombs in 48.2 innings, giving him a 2.22 HR/9 rate over the last nine starts. The good news is despite the high amount of home runs, Odorizzi has a respectable 3.93 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 83 strikeouts in 89.1 innings. His next start will be Thursday against Detroit.

Odorizzi (3-3) allowed one run on four hits over six innings Sunday, striking out eight, but came away with a no-decision in a loss to the Giants.
EDGE Analysis
He and Jake Peavy turned in nearly identical lines over six innings, but Odorizzi got to watch Xavier Cedeno and his bullpen hand the game to San Francisco in the eighth. Odorizzi's line was good, but he ran up his pitch count by starting off just seven of 22 batters with strikes and generating only 13 swinging strikes. His next turn in the rotation is scheduled for Saturday when he works the back half of a doubleheader in Baltimore.

Odorizzi was ejected from Tuesday's game in the sixth inning for arguing balls and strikes.
EDGE Analysis
He didn't like the ball-four call on his fourth walk of the night, and Odorizzi let umpire Jerry Meals know it. Odorizzi was at 116 pitches, his second-highest total of the season, and was probably done anyway. The right-hander gave up five runs on nine hits while striking out nine over 5.2 innings prior to his ejection.

Odorizzi, who's not gone more than five innings in six of his 13 starts, is hoping to begin pitching deeper into games by avoiding long innings, the Tampa Bay Times reports. "It's just one inning that's usually causing a lot of high pitches, so if I can get one inning figured out I think everything will line up a whole lot better," Odorizzi, who faces the Mariners [Tuesday], said. "I still feel really good and confident with the stuff I've been putting out there."
EDGE Analysis
The 26-year-old numbers-- a 3-3 record, 3.47 ERA, and 1.16 WHIP --are solid overall, but long innings have frequently served to boost his pitch count. Odorizzi needed 41 pitches to escape the second inning against the D-backs in his most recent start, and a four-inning, 97-pitch outing versus the A's on May 13 was derailed early by a Billy Burns 14-pitch at-bat in the opening frame. Despite the struggles, the right-hander is confident he can get things corrected. "Just try to keep getting early outs or if I get two quick ones try to get that third one quick, too, instead of maybe messing around with a few pitches if I'm ahead and then trying to make that perfect pitch once, twice and it's 2-2 and anything kind of goes from there," he said. "Just stay in attack mode."

Odorizzi (3-3) allowed three runs on five hits, struck out eight and walked one over five innings in a 6-3 victory against the Diamondbacks on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander gave up a pair of runs in the second, including a solo homer to Rickie Weeks Jr., and another run in the third, but Odorizzi settled down to retire seven of the last eight batters he faced. He also picked up four strikeouts in the final two frames. The eight punchouts were his most in a game since he recorded 10 in his first outing of the year. Odorizzi will make his next start Tuesday against the Mariners.

Odorizzi allowed only two runs on five hits and three walks while fanning six over six inings of work against Minnesota on Friday. He didn't factor in the decision.
EDGE Analysis
Odorizzi tossed a quality start, and even though it wasn't enough to get the win, it was certainly good enough to keep Tampa Bay in the game down the stretch. The 26-year-old righty has allowed two runs or less in seven of his past outings, and he lowered his ERA to a respectable 3.33 mark.
