Odorizzi (0-1) lasted only two-thirds of an inning, giving up five runs (four earned) on two hits and three walks while striking out one during a loss to the Phillies on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
This was Odorizzi's shortest outing of his career. He couldn't find the zone, throwing only 50 percent of his pitches for strikes. The defense behind him didn't help, as the Twins committed two errors in the first as well. Thanks to a strong first outing, Odorizzi's numbers aren't completely out of whack in the small sample size, but he is 0-1 with an unimpressive 6.75 ERA. He also has a 1.20 WHIP and 12 strikeouts in 6.2 innings. His next start will likely be against the Tigers.

Odorizzi gave up one run on one hit and two walks over six innings during Saturday's loss the Indians. He recorded 11 strikeouts and did not factor in the decision.
EDGE Analysis
Odorizzi lone mistake came during the fourth inning as Hanley Ramirez connected for a solo home run. The 29-year-old right-hander illustrated how insignifcant poor spring results can be as he looked as sharp as ever in his season debut. Odorizzi currently lines up to start at Philadelphia in Friday's series opener.

Odorizzi gave up five runs on two home runs while retiring just two batters in Sunday's spring training loss to Toronto. Odorizzi said he was focusing on using his curveball and wasn't bothered by the results, Phil Miller of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports. "I didn't throw many fastballs, but that was by design. I'm not going to go to my good stuff when I want to work on the other stuff that's not as good," he said.
EDGE Analysis
This is an example of when spring training results may not indicate much with a veteran who is assured of a spot in the rotation. Odorizzi looks fully healthy and set to begin the season in the rotation. The Twins may use an opener for Odorizzi's starts, given that he struggles mightily the third time he faces a lineup, but this could actually lead to him qualifying for more wins in 2019.

Odorizzi threw 2.2 scoreless innings with four strikeouts in his spring debut Tuesday. "It was probably a good thing that Odo was cruising really well, and having to throw a few extra pitches," manager Rocco Baldelli told the St. Paul Pioneer Press.
EDGE Analysis
Odorizzi's strikeout rate increased from 8.0 K/9 to 8.9 last season and he gave up fewer home runs (15.5% HR/FB in 2017, 8.9% HR/FB in 2018). However, his inability to pitch deep into games suppressed his fantasy value. He's a candidate for the Twins to use as an opener during his starts, but he's set as a part of the rotation.

Odorizzi and the Twins avoided arbitration Friday by agreeing to a one-year, $9.5 million contract, Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports.
EDGE Analysis
Odorizzi was able to reach an agreement with the Twins after being taken to a hearing by the Rays in each of previous two seasons. The 28-year-old pitched capably enough in his first season in Minnesota, though his 4.49 ERA was his highest mark since a two-start cameo back in 2012.

Odorizzi allowed four runs on six hits and five walks while striking out three over three innings in Wednesday's win over the Tigers. He did not factor into the decision.
EDGE Analysis
Odorizzi struggled with command, walking at least one batter in all four frames he pitched in en route to matching a season-high with the five walks. The Minnesota bats provided enough offense to bail him out of a loss, but it was still a disappointing finish to the 2018 campaign. The 28-year-old finished the year with a career-high 4.49 ERA and 1.34 WHIP, along with 162:70 K:BB across 164.1 innings.

Odorizzi (7-10) allowed two runs on four hits and one walk across 6.1 innings Tuesday to earn the win over the Tigers. He struck out six.
EDGE Analysis
Odorizzi scattered baserunners well throughout the outing and wasn't scored upon on until the seventh inning, when he allowed a pair of singles before a two-run triple by Mikie Mahtook. He was removed at that point but already had enough run support to earn his seventh win of the season. Odorizzi needed just 84 pitches in this outing, throwing 67 percent for strikes in what was his second straight quality start. He'll take a 4.35 ERA into his scheduled appearance next week against this same Detroit club.

Odorizzi (6-10) got the win Wednesday, allowing one run on one hit and three walks while striking out five over 7.1 innings against the Yankees.
EDGE Analysis
Odorizzi carried a no hitter into the eighth inning, allowing his first and only hit on an RBI double to Greg Bird against the final batter he'd face. Though he wasn't overpowering in terms of strikeouts, it was easily Odorizzi's best outing of the season and marked the first time he was able to work into the eighth inning all year. He'll sport a 4.41 ERA and 153:64 K:BB across 155 innings heading into Tuesday's start in Detroit.

Odorizzi (5-10) took the loss Wednesday, allowing five runs on four hits and four walks while striking out four over 4.2 innings against the Astros.
EDGE Analysis
Odorizzi was tagged for a pair of two-run home runs and didn't have a great feel for his command, with four walks and a hit by pitch. The 28-year-old has taken the loss in three consecutive outings and now sees his ERA sit at 4.57. He'll also carry a 1.36 WHIP and 148:61 K:BB across 147.2 innings heading into another tough matchup, Wednesday against the Yankees.

Odorizzi (5-9) allowed three runs on three hits and three walks while striking out four over 5.1 innings Thursday as he took the loss against Cleveland.
EDGE Analysis
Odorizzi tossed a decent outing, surrendering a run in the fourth and two in the sixth, but his offense failed to bail him out. The 28-year-old has been sadled with two straight losses despite giving up just four runs over 12.1 frames. Things won't get much easier for Odorizzi moving forward as he'll face a tough Houston lineup Tuesday.
