Odorizzi (13-6) allowed four runs (three earned) on eight hits and a walk while striking out six across five innings to take the loss Wednesday against the White Sox.
EDGE Analysis
Odorizzi allowed the majority of his damage in the opening frame, surrendering three hits and two earned runs. He was never particularly dominant -- he allowed multiple baserunners in three of his five innings -- but still managed to prevent runs enough to turn in a respectable start. Besides a nine-run implosion July 24, Odorizzi has remained steady in the second half, not allowing more than three earned runs in any of his seven outings. He'll look to keep that up in his next effort, currently scheduled for Wednesday in a rematch at the White Sox.

Odorizzi didn't factor into the decision against the Braves on Monday, giving up one earned run on five hits over six innings, striking out seven and walking three as the Twins won 5-3.
EDGE Analysis
He didn't get the win, but it was a second straight solid outing for Odorizzi after he endured a nine-run blowup against the Yankees on July 24. He's cooled down since his lights-out start to the season, but the 29-year-old's numbers still look solid overall through 22 starts, as he's sporting a 3.61 ERA, a 1.19 WHIP and a 120:40 K:BB across 114.2 innings.

Odorizzi, who was lined up to start Sunday's game against the Royals, will be pushed back at least one day in the pitching schedule with the Twins recalling Devin Smeltzer from Triple-A Rochester to take the hill for the series finale with Kansas City, Betsy Helfand of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
EDGE Analysis
Odorizzi isn't believed to be dealing with any sort of injury, so the Twins will likely just have him pick up an extra day rest before returning him to the rotation in Monday's series opener with the Braves. Smeltzer will assume the rotation spot that had previously belonged to Michael Pineda (triceps), who was moved to the 10-day injured list earlier this weekend. Assuming Odorizzi ends up receiving the nod Monday, he would line up for a two-start week, with his second turn coming Aug. 10 versus the Indians.

Didi Gregorius proved to be Odorizzi's nemesis after swatting an RBI double in the second inning and a two-run triple in the fourth. EDGE Analysis
The right-hander exited the game after 88 pitches (56 strikes) with the score tied 3-3, the fifth straight start in which he's failed to complete six innings.
