McGee navigated two scoreless innings in his most recent appearance Saturday, allowing one hit and striking out a batter.
EDGE Analysis
This was a welcome success for the left-hander, as it actually lowered his ERA to 5.21. McGee has been snakebitten by home runs a bit this season, as he already served up as many homers this year as he did all of last season. His 7.1 K/9 is also down from last season. Interestingly, it seems like McGee is struggling the most with lefties, as they are hitting .320 off of him this season (as opposed to righties, who are batting .208 against him). Perhaps a decrease in velocity is to blame for this regression, as his average fastball speed is over two miles per hour lower than last season. Regardless of what the issue is, McGee doesn't appear to be as automatic out of the bullpen as he once was.

McGee was hit for two runs (one earned) on a hit and a walk in Wednesday's win against the Padres.
EDGE Analysis
The lefty opened the season with three consecutive flawless appearances, so even this shaky outing leaves his early numbers in a good place. McGee has collected four strikeouts in 3.7 innings of work. This strong start has him primed to be one of the top arms behind closer Wade Davis.

McGee has made three appearances in Cactus League action, allowing one run on three hits and three walks over 2.2 innings. He's struck out three batters.
EDGE Analysis
The southpaw has been rarely seen in exhibition play, but by all accounts McGee is fully healthy and will be ready for Opening Day. He re-signed with the Rockies on a three-year deal in mid-December and is primed to serve as the top lefty setup man for Wade Davis. McGee's experience closing games for the team in the past likely gives him the edge over Bryan Shaw as the next man up if Davis were to get hurt.

McGee will remain with the Rockies after signing a new deal Wednesday, Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
Pending a physical, McGee will be back in the Colorado bullpen for the third straight year, and could potentially be the club's closer for the 2018 season. That obviously depends on whether the Rockies are able to sign other relievers before the start of next season, but McGee is a solid candidate to take over that role following a good season in 2017. During this past year, he posted a 3.61 ERA and 1.10 WHIP over 57.1 innings, while accumulating three saves and 20 holds. His 58:16 K:BB was more in line with his remarkable final two seasons in Tampa Bay than his rough debut with the Rockies in 2016, and the left-hander should be able to put together another quality year in whichever role he winds up being deployed in.

McGee finished the regular season with a 3.61 ERA, a 1.10 WHIP and a 9.1 K/9 in 57.1 innings pitched.
EDGE Analysis
After a disastrous debut in Colorado, the southpaw bounced back with a solid season. It's certainly not the elite stat line he produced during his time with Tampa Bay, but it was enough to grab many of the high-leverage innings for the Rockies. He'll be blocked for saves if Greg Holland comes back on his player option, but McGee is especially valuable in leagues that count holds after he put up 20 holds, his highest mark in the category since 2013.

McGee earned his third save of the season in Sunday's victory over the Braves.
EDGE Analysis
Thomas Harding of MLB.com reported that Greg Holland, Colorado's usual closer, wouldn't be used in Sunday's game so that he could throw a bullpen session. As a result, McGee picked up a save for the second consecutive day. Holland has struggled recently, as he's allowed eight runs over his last four appearances (2.2 innings). However, the team has yet to remove Holland from his duties as closer, so it's unlikely that McGee will consistently see save opportunities moving forward.

McGee retired two hitters to earn his second save Saturday against the Braves.
EDGE Analysis
McGee came on in the ninth inning after the Braves had scored two runs to pull within a single run of the Rockies, but he was able to close out the contest on just three pitches. This was a rare save opportunity for a reliever who's collected 16 holds on the year.

McGee (back) was activated from the 10-day disabled list Sunday, Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
The southpaw got back to throwing late last week, and it seems like everything is back in working order even with the increase in activity. McGee should slot back into a setup role in the Rockies bullpen now that he's healthy again. Shane Carle was sent back to Triple-A in a corresponding move.

McGee (back) was able to get some throwing in Thursday, and appears to be on the verge of activation, The Denver Post's Patrick Saunders reports.
EDGE Analysis
McGee was initially placed on the DL on July 30 with a mid-back sprain, but should be able to return to the team by the beginning of next week, barring any setback. In 43 appearances with Colorado this season, McGee has posted a 3.27 ERA and 1.09 WHIP with a 47:12 K:BB in 41.1 innings.

McGee (back) hopes to start throwing soon, Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
After landing on the disabled list July 30, the left-handed reliever is already feeling better after a few days off. No word has come forth as to when he'll be back in action, although this development makes it seem like his stay on the DL will be fairly brief.
