Arrieta will make his regular season debut in the Cubs' second game of the season, Jesse Rogers of ESPN reports.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander garnered the Opening Day start last season on the heels of his Cy Young Award-winning 2015 campaign, but this season, he'll cede those honors to veteran left-hander Jon Lester. Arrieta will have to wait until the second night of the season to face the Cardinals, and the pitcher opposing him is still up in the air. Nonetheless, this is by no means a knock to the 30-year-old's value, especially given the 3.10 ERA and 18 wins he produced last season.

Arrieta will make his spring training debut Monday against the Angels, Mark Gonzales of the Chicago Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Following his 2015 Cy Young campaign, Arrieta regressed some in 2016, but he still posted an impressive 3.10 ERA and 190 strikeouts in 197.1 innings. The 30-year-old is entering the last year of his contract, so he should be motivated to keep up the strong performance in hopes of getting a huge deal next offseason.

Arrieta said he expects to talk to the Cubs again about a contract extension before he becomes a free agent next fall, The Chicago Sun-Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
"There's an open dialogue there. I think we will have talks," Arrieta said. "But it's not my No. 1 priority." The 30-year-old has resurrected his career since coming to Chicago in 2013, and he figures to be in line for a big payday next offseason. Whether the Cubs will be willing to meet the price tag will be a big storyline to watch.

Arrieta agreed to a one-year, $15.6375 million deal with the Cubs on Friday, avoiding arbitration, FanRag Sports' Jon Heyman reports.
EDGE Analysis
This is a monster number for Arrieta, but given his performance over the past three seasons, he would have had quite a compelling argument had his case gone to an arbiter. He makes for a low-end SP1 or high-end SP2 in fantasy leagues this season.

Arrieta is scheduled to start Game 2 of the Cubs' World Series matchup with the Indians, Carrie Muskat of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Arrieta had been lining up behind Kyle Hendricks through most of the postseason, but given the fact that Hendricks pitched Chicago's final NLCS game against the Dodgers, manager Joe Maddon decided to hand the ball to Arrieta in Game 2. The 30-year-old is expected to face Trevor Bauer at Progressive Field during Wednesday's tilt.

Manager Joe Maddon announced that Arrieta will start Game 3 of the NLDS, Jesse Rogers of ESPN reports.
EDGE Analysis
Arrieta was once again a rock for the Cubs this year, although his last few starts were a bit lackluster (4.60 ERA in his last five starts). Nonetheless, the right-hander will be tasked with a road assignment against either the Mets or the Giants on Monday as he looks to bounce back from his rough conclusion to the regular season.

Arrieta (18-8) was the losing pitcher in Wednesday's 8-4 loss to Pittsburgh, surrendering seven runs (all earned) on 10 hits while walking two and striking out four over five innings.
EDGE Analysis
Arrieta entered his final start with a 2.87 ERA, but Pittsburgh, primarily at the hands of John Jaso, left a dent -- and likely a sour taste in the NL Cy Young Award winner's mouth -- as the club tagged him for seven runs on 10 hits (both season highs) and lifted the healthy mark to 3.10 for the season.

Arrieta (18-7) mowed down 10 Cardinals over seven innings of five-hit scoreless ball in Friday's 5-0 victory. He also issued a walk.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran completely mystified a Cardinals team that has been tough on righties all season, hurling 68 of 99 pitches for strikes and inducing 22 swinging strikes overall. Arrieta was able to notch double-digit strikeouts for the first time since June 17 while also posting his eighth scoreless effort of the season. The outing was an encouraging departure from the 16 runs (14 earned) that the right-hander had given up over his previous four starts. He'll look to head into the postseason with even more momentum when he takes on the Pirates next Wednesday in his final regular-season start.

Arrieta (17-7) gave up four runs (three earned) on four hits and four walks over six innings in Saturday's 11-3 loss to the Brewers. He struck out five.
EDGE Analysis
The ace right-hander didn't pitch anywhere near as poorly as the final score would indicate, as seven of the Brewers' 11 runs came in the final two frames. Arrieta primarily had trouble solving Ryan Braun, who got to him for an RBI single in the fourth and a 404-foot two-run shot in the sixth, but was otherwise solid over his 102 pitches. The veteran does have losses in two of his last three starts and will try to rebound against the Reds next Friday.

Arrieta (16-6) gave up three runs (two earned) on four hits and two walks over six innings in Saturday's 3-2 loss to the Giants. He struck out seven.
EDGE Analysis
The Cubs' ace bounced back nicely from his last start, when he gave up six earned runs over 6.1 innings to the Pirates. Arrieta recorded his highest strikeout total since July 19 versus the Mets and was outdueled by Madison Bumgarner, who largely neutralized the Cubs offense. He did contribute to his own cause with an RBI infield single in the fifth, but Chicago could only manage one other run, snapping Arrieta's four-start winning streak. He'll look to get back in the win column when he takes on the Astros next Friday.
