Arrieta (12-3) turned in his second straight subpar start, allowing four runs on eight hits, struck out four and walked two in a loss to the Mets on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
He gave up a two-run homer, the second bomb opponents have hit against Arrieta in the last two starts, and then a two-run single in the fourth. No doubt, Arrieta has spoiled us over the last year and a half, but he's 3-3 with a 4.05 ERA over his last six starts. He's only made it through the sixth twice during that stretch, as control and pitch count have been a real problem. He's walked 21 batters in his last 40.1 innings after he yielded 21 free passes in his first 68 innings. Arrieta has also allowed nine runs and 12 hits with seven walks in his last 10.1 innings. He will try to get right Friday against the Pirates, who he has just tormented since last September.

Arreita (12-2) earned the win despite allowing five runs in five innings against the Reds on Monday. He gave up four hits and walked five while striking out four.
EDGE Analysis
The five runs allowed were the most by Arrieta all season, as were his five walks. Arrieta has now surrendered nine walks in his last two games, over which he has lasted just 10 innings. Despite his recent hiccups, Arrieta should bounce back in short order. His next start will come Saturday against the Mets.

Arrieta (11-2) suffered his second loss of the month Wednesday against the Cardinals. He pitched five innings, allowing two runs (one earned) on four hits while walking four and striking out six.
EDGE Analysis
Arrieta struggled to command his fastball against the division rival, and matched his season high with four walks. He walked four-plus batters just once last year, but Arrieta has now issued four free passes in five of his starts this season. The 2015 NL Cy Young winner draws a favorable matchup Monday when he takes on the Reds in his next start.

Arrieta (11-1) mowed down 11 Pirates while pitching six shutout innings of two-hit ball in Friday's 6-0 victory. He also walked three.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander missed plenty of bats, inducing 16 swings-and- misses over 112 pitches. He only surrendered back-to-back singles to Jody Mercer and Chris Stewart in the third, and got out of a bases-loaded jam in the sixth with consecutive whiffs of David Freese and Matt Joyce. Arrieta now has double-digit strikeouts in two of the last three starts, and boasts a stellar 0.95 WHIP and 101:31 K:BB. He'll look to continue his banner season next Wednesday versus the Cardinals.

Arrieta (10-1) allowed two runs on four hits, struck out three and walked two in a victory over the Braves on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander started a new streak after suffering his first loss since July 25, 2015. Arrieta allowed two or fewer runs for the 10th time in 13 outings this season. He only struck out three, but we'll give him a pass since he struck out 12 in just five innings during his last appearance. Arrieta has a 1.86 ERA, .178 batting average against, 0.95 WHIP and 90 strikeouts over 87.0 innings.

Arrieta (9-1) has his franchise-record streak ended at 20 wins against the Diamondbacks on Sunday. He pitched five innings, allowing three runs on nine hits while walking one and striking out 12.
EDGE Analysis
Arrieta had been unbeatable during a historic run that placed him among the game's best. The 20 consecutive winning decisions tied him with Roger Clemens (1998-99) for third-most in the majors since 1913. His streak stretched over 24 regular-season starts since he took the loss in Cole Hamels' no-hitter for Philadelphia at Wrigley Field on July 25. The 2015 Cy Young award winner shouldn't have much trouble bouncing back from this one as he draws MLB's worst team, the Braves, in his next start Saturday.

Arrieta tossed seven shutout innings with just two hits and four walks allowed and eight strikeouts but was stuck with a no-decision Tuesday against the Dodgers.
EDGE Analysis
Arrieta was outdueled by Scott Kazmir and the Los Angeles bullpen, who combined for a one-hit shutout. Still, Arrieta was brilliant, as he induced 13 swinging strikes and 10 ground balls and didn't allow a runner to second base until the seventh inning. Arrieta now has eight quality starts in 11 outings this year and is angling for another Cy Young award between his 1.56 ERA and 75:25 K:BB in 75 innings thus far in 2016.

Arrieta (9-0) pitched five innings, allowing four runs, seven hits and one walk while striking out four in Wednesday's win over the Cardinals.
EDGE Analysis
The Cardinals were the first team to score four runs against Arrieta since the Indians did so June 16, 2015. That snapped a streak of 30 consecutive starts of three earned runs or fewer for Arrieta, the longest such streak in MLB history. The right-hander was spotted a five-run second-inning lead, but to everyone's amazement, he nearly lost it. Arrieta was able to escape a bases-loaded jam in the fifth inning to hang on, becoming the first nine-game winner in the NL this year.

Arrieta (8-0) allowed one run on four hits and two walks while striking out eight over seven innings to earn the win Friday at the Giants.
EDGE Analysis
With the Cubs scoring five runs in the second inning, Arrieta cruised easily to his eighth win as he was his usual dominant self. After allowing two earned runs in back-to-back games for the only time this season, the righty got back to his elite form to keep his ERA at 1.29. He'll make his next start Wednesday at the Cardinals.

Arrieta (7-0) mowed down 11 Pirates on the way to an 8-2 victory Saturday, while surrendering three hits, two earned runs and two walks.
EDGE Analysis
The 30-year-old tallied double-digit strikeouts for the first time this season, which was about the only feat he had yet to accomplish in what has been a Cy Young-caliber campaign to date. It was his longest stint since his no-hitter versus the Reds on April 21, and he's sporting a stellar 1.29 ERA and 0.84 WHIP over 56 innings this season.
