Ellsbury went 1-for-4 and scored twice in Sunday's win over the White Sox.
EDGE Analysis
Ellsbury missed the previous eight games with a hip ailment, but he was able to avoid a DL stint and return to the lineup Sunday. The centerfielder has overcome a slow start, as every part of his .260/.321/.380 slash line marks an improvement over last season's numbers.

Ellsbury (hip) is back in the lineup in center field and is batting leadoff Sunday against the White Sox, Colleen Kane of the Chicago Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Yankees have held Ellsbury out of the lineup over the last eight games while he's battled the hip ailment, but he was fortunately able to avoid a DL stint and looks like he's ready to serve in an everyday role once again. Ellsbury's return will result in Aaron Hicks returning to the bench for the afternoon.

Ellsbury (hip) is available off the bench Saturday, and is expected to return to the lineup Sunday, according to general manager Brian Cashman, LoHud's Chad Jennings reports. "That's our hope and expectation," Cashman said.
EDGE Analysis
He will be out of the lineup for the eighth consecutive game Saturday, but according to Cashman, that streak will come to an end Sunday. Ellsbury's fragility has always been a concern, but fortunately he stole nine bases in 27 games before suffering this latest injury, so fantasy owners can't complain too much. Given how hard it is to find speed these days, Ellsbury doesn't have to add much in terms of power to be a very useful fantasy piece as long as he can stay somewhat healthy over the rest of the season. The Yankees could look to give him strategic days off going forward, especially with Aaron Hicks looming as an above average replacement off the bench.

Ellsbury remains out of the lineup Friday against the White Sox.
EDGE Analysis
Make it seven straight absences for Ellsbury, who continues to nurse a sprained hip muscle. It's uncertain if he'll be available off the bench Friday, but there is some hope Ellsbury could return before the end of the weekend. Aaron Hicks is once again filling in in center field.

EDGE Analysis
Ellsbury missed his sixth consecutive game Thursday, but he is making progress in his recovery, and may be able to return to action at some point over the next few days. Ellsbury (hip) remains out of the lineup Wednesday game against the Royals.
EDGE Analysis
Ellsbury will sit out Wednesday for the fifth game in a row as he continues to battle soreness in his hip. He did test his injury by jogging Wednesday, according to Newsday's David Lennon, but he did not run at full speed and was not on the field for long, so he did not demonstrate much for progress. It's not clear how much longer he will be sidelined, but Aaron Hicks will continue getting starts in center field until Ellsbury is able to return.

Ellsbury (hip) is not in the lineup Tuesday against the Royals, Ryan Hatch of the Star-Ledger reports.
EDGE Analysis
The news isn't much of a surprised, as Ellsbury wasn't expected to return until Wednesday at the earliest. If he's unable to come back to the lineup in the coming days, a DL stint could still be in store. Aaron Hicks will continue seeing time in center field in Ellsbury's absence, while Ben Gamel is drawing the start in right Tuesday.

EDGE Analysis
Ellsbury has been sidelined since leaving Friday's game with the hip injury, and it appears it will be another couple days until he is ready to get back on the field. Aaron Hicks figures to continue manning center field until Ellsbury returns.

Ellsbury (hip) is not in the lineup Monday against Kansas City, Erik Boland of Newsday reports.
EDGE Analysis
As expected, Ellsbury will remain out for the third straight game as he continues to deal with a hip injury. Manager Joe Girardi said Sunday that the team is not expecting a DL stint, but it'll ultimately depend on whether or not Ellsbury makes tangible progress over the next few days. Aaron Hicks will get another start in center field Monday, while Brett Gardner serves as the leadoff man for the third consecutive game.
