Ellsbury (hip) is available off the bench Saturday, and is expected to return to the lineup Sunday, according to general manager Brian Cashman, LoHud's Chad Jennings reports. "That's our hope and expectation," Cashman said.
EDGE Analysis
He will be out of the lineup for the eighth consecutive game Saturday, but according to Cashman, that streak will come to an end Sunday. Ellsbury's fragility has always been a concern, but fortunately he stole nine bases in 27 games before suffering this latest injury, so fantasy owners can't complain too much. Given how hard it is to find speed these days, Ellsbury doesn't have to add much in terms of power to be a very useful fantasy piece as long as he can stay somewhat healthy over the rest of the season. The Yankees could look to give him strategic days off going forward, especially with Aaron Hicks looming as an above average replacement off the bench.
