Ivan Nova held the Mariners to just one run on five hits in 7 1/3 innings on Wednesday, taking a no-decision in New York's 2-1, 12-inning loss in Seattle.
Nova struck out five and walked four in completing at least seven innings of work for the fourth time in five starts. He'll bring a 3.81 ERA and 1.34 WHIP into his Tuesday tilt with the Rays.

Ivan Nova was left with a no-decision after allowing three runs in 5 1/3 innings Thursday against the Orioles.
Nova had won eight straight starts, the second longest such streak in the majors this year behind Justin Verlander's current 10-start winning streak. He left with a lead in this one, too, but Rafael Soriano blew it by giving up a run in the eighth.

Ivan Nova limited the Twins to five hits in seven scoreless innings of work on Sunday, improving to 13-4 in a 3-0 Yankees victory in Minnesota.
He struck out five and walked one. Now the owner of a 3.97 ERA and 1.38 WHIP through 124 2/3 innings this season, hopefully Nova is finally in the Yankees rotation to stay.

The Yankees haven't decided when Ivan Nova will make his next start.
Nova allowed just one run and struck out a career-high 10 over 7 2/3 innings against the White Sox on Thursday night, so he certainly deserves another look. If Phil Hughes is needed out of the bullpen this weekend, Nova could slot in his place next Tuesday against the Angels. Yankees manager Joe Girardi also indicated that they could start him on Thursday, giving CC Sabathia an extra day of rest. We likely won't know anything official until the weekend is through.

Ivan Nova was masterful Thursday, pitching 7.2 innings of one run ball in a 7-2 victory over the White Sox.
Nova fanned 10, marking the first time in his career he's hit double-digits in Ks. The youngster allowed just six hits and didn't walk a single batter for the first time in three starts. He's sticking in the Yankees rotation for at least one more start after this performance.

The Yankees will use a six-man rotation this week.
We figured Ivan Nova would get another shot after he allowed two runs and struck out six over seven innings Saturday in the second game of a doubleheader against the Orioles. He is scheduled to get the ball Thursday against the White Sox. It will be interesting to see if he sticks should Phil Hughes struggle again on Tuesday.

Yankees manager Joe Girardi said going to a six-man rotation is "something we could do."
Ivan Nova pitched seven terrific innings Saturday in the second game of a doubleheader, as he allowed just two runs while striking out six and walking one. The performance has Girardi weighing his options. "We have talked about what we are going to do. We wanted to get through today," Girardi said. "But that's something we could do." We're guessing Nova will likely still be sent back down, but he'd certainly be an option to return eventually.

Ivan Nova is expected to be called up from the minors to make a spot start in Saturday's doubleheader against the Orioles.
Yankees manager Joe Girardi has yet to make an official announcement, but he strongly hinted that Nova was healthy and had no problems in a simulated game Monday. The 24-year-old right-hander is currently on the 7-day disabled list with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre due to an ankle injury. He posted a 4.12 ERA and 51/37 K/BB ratio over 91 2/3 innings before being optioned to the minors last month.

Ivan Nova (ankle) will throw a simulated game Monday.
If it goes well, the 24-year-old right-hander will likely be promoted to the major leagues to start Saturday against the Orioles. Nova has been on the 7-day minor league disabled list since last week with an ankle injury.

Bob Klapisch of The Record reports that the Yankees are "still not leaning towards dealing for a starter."
We find that hard to believe, given that Phil Hughes was blasted for seven runs Friday and Bartolo Colon has just two quality starts since mid-June. Neither starter is a sure thing down the stretch. Klapisch thinks the Yankees' next step would be to give Ivan Nova another chance, but we've got to think if a guy like Ubaldo Jimenez is truly available, the Yankees will make a serious run at him.
