Ivan Nova tossed four scoreless innings in Tuesday's start against the Red Sox. Nice to see after he was knocked around by the Blue Jays last week. The Red Sox didn't exactly bring their A-squad to Tampa, but Nova was still mighty impressive. The 25-year-old right-hander allowed just two hits while striking out three and walking none. The Yankees haven't promised him anything following his 16-win rookie season, but it's hard to imagine him not being in the starting rotation.

Ivan Nova allowed two runs -- one earned -- in two innings Saturday against the Phillies. After Shane Victorino reached on an error, Hunter Pence hit a two-run homer with one out in the first. It was the only hit Nova allowed, and he finished with two strikeouts and no walks. He's not promised a rotation spot, but it'd be a big surprise if he's let out.

Yankees general manager Brian Cashman said Wednesday that Ivan Nova's right forearm strain is "behind him." Nova left Game 5 of the ALDS against the Tigers with what was diagnosed as a Grade 1 forearm strain, but Yankees head physician Dr. Chris Ahmad has cleared him of any serious injury. Nova, 24, went 16-4 with a 3.70 ERA in 165 1/3 innings this season. He should enter spring training assured of a rotation spot.

Updating a previous report, Ivan Nova has opted to remain with his old agency, SFX. ESPN's Jerry Crasnick reported earlier that Nova had switched to the Legacy Sports Group, but it was only for a couple of days. The 24-year-old right-hander went 16-4 with a 3.70 ERA in 165 1/3 innings this season as a major league rookie. He's under the Yanks' control for several more years.

An MRI on Ivan Nova's right forearm has revealed a Grade 1 flexor strain. He won't need surgery, as the injury is expected to heal without complications over the winter. Nova will be able to have a normal offseason and should enter spring training at 100 percent. Though his season didn't end the way he wanted it to, Nova had a terrific rookie year, going 16-4 with a 3.70 ERA and 1.33 WHIP over 165 1/3 innings.

Ivan Nova will receive and MRI on his right forearm Friday. Nova had to exit Thursday's start after the forearm tightened up on him in the second inning. "We didn't like the way the ball was coming out of his hand," Yankees manager Joe Girardi said. "I think it was directly related to that. Some of his fastballs were cutting, and we never saw that. So I had to make a change, and I had to, you know, try to get our bullpen through it." It's likely he'll be fine with a little rest, but we'll provide an update on his status once the results of the exam are known.

Ivan Nova had to be removed from Thursday's ALDS Game 5 start after two innings due to forearm tightness. Nova allowed back-to-back solo homers in the first inning but was appearing to settle in, so we figured something might be wrong with him physically. It's not clear at this point whether it might affect his availability for the ALCS. If it does, Bartolo Colon might be added to the roster. Girardi has used a parade of hurlers, including CC Sabathia, since Nova's exit.

Ivan Nova will pitch when play resumes Saturday in Game 1 of the ALDS against the Tigers. CC Sabathia threw 27 pitches over two innings before play was suspended Friday with the score tied 1-1. Freddy Garcia will pitch Sunday, which means Sabathia is ruled out until at least Monday. It's a tough break for both the Yankees and Tigers, as their aces will now only pitch one game during the series. Keep it mind that rain is also in the forecast for Saturday, so this schedule is subject to change.

Ivan Nova will start Game 2 of the ALDS against the Tigers on Saturday. CC Sabathia is lined up to start Game 1 and Game 4, so Nova would get the ball in a potential deciding Game 5. Nova, 24, went 16-4 with a 3.70 ERA and 98/57 K/BB ratio over 165 1/3 innings this season. He did not face the Tigers during the regular season.

Ivan Nova wasn't involved in the decision after allowing four runs in 6 1/3 innings Sunday against the Red Sox. Nova will bring his 12-game winning streak into next season, even though he prevailed in just one of his final four starts. The Rookie of the Year contender ends the regular season 16-4 with a 3.70 ERA. He'll get the nod in Game 2 or 3 of the ALDS.
