Yankees placed P Ivan Nova on the Triple-A disabled list with an ankle injury.
However, Yankees manager Joe Girardi is considering promoting him for a July 30 doubleheader versus the Orioles. If healthy by that time, Nova could be a solid spot starter against the free-falling O's.

Ivan Nova (ankle) will have his next turn for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre skipped.
Nova twisted his ankle in Tuesday's start and had to come out, but he felt much better Wednesday and appears to have avoided a serious ailment. He should get back out there before the end of the month.

Ivan Nova left Tuesday's start for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre with an ankle injury.
The Yankees are saying that he just "rolled" the ankle, so it doesn't sound too bad. It's not known at this point if he'll need to miss any starts.

Yankees optioned RHP Ivan Nova to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
Nova posted a 3.35 ERA since the beginning of June, but it wasn't enough to save his spot in the rotation. He'll serve as rotation insurance at Triple-A. Though the Yankees have not yet made the announcement, Nova's demotion virtually guarantees that Phil Hughes will come off the DL to start Wednesday against the Indians.

Ivan Nova allowed four runs on six hits and three walks in six innings of work on Sunday, taking a no-decision in New York's 6-4 win over the Rockies.
Nova allowed three solo home runs, two to Ty Wigginton and one to Chris Iannetta. He struck out four. Not the way he wanted to follow up his career-best outing against the Reds, but not a disaster, either. Now the owner of a 4.26 ERA and 1.45 WHIP, Nova will get the Mets in Citi Field next weekend.
