Nova pitched the final four innings of Wednesday's 16-6 trouncing of the Astros, allowing no runs on four hits and a walk while striking out five and picking up a save.
EDGE Analysis
The long-relief role Nova's been stuck in won't typically lend itself to much fantasy value, as opportunities like this one should be rare for him, but he was able to give the rest of the bullpen a break by finishing off the rout. It's far from inconceivable that Nova might find himself in the Yankees' rotation at some point, but for now it's hard to own him in most fantasy leagues. Even if he does get back into the starting five, we're talking about a guy who put up a 5.07 ERA in 17 starts last year.

C.C Sabathia was named the Yankees' fifth starter Friday, meaning that Nova will start the season in the bullpen, Wallace Matthews of ESPN New York reports.
EDGE Analysis
Although Nova had a solid spring, working a 4.13 ERA over 24.0 innings that was better than Sabathia's overall numbers, Nova will be used out of the bullpen for at least the beginning of the season. Nova figures to serve in a long relief role, but is unlikely to get enough work to be a viable fantasy asset unless he rejoins the starting rotation down the line.

Nova pitched six scoreless innings Wednesday, allowing two hits , a walk, and striking out two in a 2-0 win over Atlanta.
EDGE Analysis
Nova has been shaky this spring, allowing 11 runs in 18 innings pitched coming into Wednesday's game. His scoreless pitching outing comes as a big relief for the Yankees who are hoping he can be a solid rotation member following two injury-plagued seasons. Nova should be considered a low-end fantasy pitcher in mixed formats who has the potential to rack up innings and wins pending his ability to stay healthy.

Nova was hit by a line drive but was able to complete his throwing session Sunday, ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Nova took the liner off the bat of the powerful Aaron Judge, but it deflected first and the pitcher appears to have avoided any injury. The 28-year-old struggled to the tune of a 5.07 ERA in his first season back after Tommy John surgery and could be the odd man out of a six person race for a spot in the starting rotation. He could see the occasional spot start or get a starting role in the event of injury, but for now Nova looks likely to start the season working out of the bullpen.

Nova and the Yankees settled on a $4.1M deal Thursday, avoiding arbitration, Jack Curry of the YES Network reports.
EDGE Analysis
Nova struggled down the stretch in 2015, getting the loss in seven of his last eight starts while posting a 7.02 ERA. Right now Masahiro Tanaka, Michael Pineda, Luis Severino, and Nathan Eovaldi are seemingly locked into the first four rotation spots, meaning Nova will have to prove he can perform at a higher level if he wants a chance to crack the rotation. The 29-year-old could enter 2016 as the fifth starter or in the bullpen, making him a player to keep an eye on throughout spring training.

Nova took the loss in Game 1 of Saturday's double-header against the Orioles, giving up five runs on eight hits and three walks over 5.2 innings while striking out four.
EDGE Analysis
His season ends with a thud, and Nova now has a rough 7.25 ERA over his final seven appearances (36 innings). With an offseason to rest and further strengthen his surgically repaired elbow though, he could still be in the mix for a rotation spot next spring.

Nova will start one of the games in Saturday's double header against the Orioles, Roch Kubatko of MASN reports.
EDGE Analysis
Nova was tentatively scheduled to pitch Saturday anyway, so Friday's postponement doesn't effect him too much. Luis Severino will be tabbed to start the other contest, though the club hasn't decided who will start which game yet.

Nova lost his 10th game Monday against the Red Sox as he allowed four runs on seven hits and two walks over seven innings. He struck out seven.
EDGE Analysis
Nova was brilliant early, as he allowed just three hits and a walk through five scoreless innings to begin the start. But the Red Sox tagged him for a pair of home runs in the next two innings, continuing a trend this year. Nova has now allowed 12 home runs in 16 starts and owns a brutal 1.2 HR/9, the main driver behind his 4.89 ERA.

Nova will start Monday against the Red Sox, Wallace Matthews of ESPN New York reports.
EDGE Analysis
Between his strong performance the last time out -- striking out six in 5.2 innings while allowing just one run -- and the news that Masahiro Tanaka (hamstring) won't be ready to return Monday, Nova will get at least one more turn in the rotation. The 28-year-old put up a solid start his last time out against Boston, allowing three runs in six innings in a losing effort.

Nova (6-9) allowed just one run on four hits and two walks while striking out six in 5.2 innings Wednesday against Toronto, but took the loss.
EDGE Analysis
Unfortunately for Nova, Marcus Stroman was outstanding on the other end, negating the 28-year-old's strong effort. It was his first start in 11 days, as the Jays helped boot Nova from the Yankees' rotation by blowing him up for six runs in less than two innings back on Sept. 12. It seems likely he'll stay in the rotation to start against the visiting Red Sox next week.
