Ian Stewart will not be able to attend the Rockies' fall instructional league due to lingering wrist issues. Stewart is still in Denver getting treatment, and the instructional league ends in a week. If his health returns within the next month he could play winter ball in Mexico. The 26-year-old infielder batted just .156 with no homers and six RBI in 122 at-bats for the Rockies this season. He's likely to be non-tendered this winter.

Ian Stewart is willing to take a significant pay cut to stay with Colorado next season. "The Rockies are where I want to be," said Stewart. "Honestly, I don't need a chance of scenery. It had nothing to do with this place. ... There's definitely no part of me that thinks I need a change of scenery to get going." Stewart, earning $2,287,500 this season, is a candidate to be non-tendered. The 26-year-old batted .156 with with no home runs and six RBIs in 122 at-bats with Colorado this year. He was optioned to Triple-A in mid-August. Stewart will report to the instructional league on September 27 and is also planning on playing winter ball in Mexico in order to make up for lost time after an injury-shortened, disappointing season. Stewart hit 43 homers between 2009-10.

Ian Stewart will report to the instructional league on September 27. Stewart is also planning on playing winter ball in Mexico in order to make up for lost time after an injury-shortened, disappointing season. He's been wearing a brace on his left wrist, but the injury is evidently healed enough that he can swing the bat.

Ian Stewart has been wearing a brace on his left wrist and will have to keep in on for a while. The wrist started giving Stewart problems shortly after he was optioned to Triple-A in mid-August. He's had an injury-plagued, disappointing season and is hoping to be healthy enough to play in the instructional league in order to make up for lost time.

Ian Stewart is sidelined by a wrist injury at Triple-A. Stewart was optioned to Triple-A Colorado Springs in early August after yet another unsuccessful stint in the major leagues. If the wrist injury lingers, the Rockies may hesitate to recall him when rosters expand in September.

Rockies optioned 3B Ian Stewart to Triple-A Colorado Springs. He was cleared to make room for Wednesday's starter Kevin Millwood. Stewart batted .213/.298/.307 with zero homers and a 19/9 K/BB ratio over 84 plate appearances during his most recent stint with the team. The sad part is that it was actually an improvement from what he did to earn his initial demotion. He may return when rosters expand in September, but we aren't expecting anything.

According to the Denver Post, the Rockies had a trade in place involving third baseman Ian Stewart but it fell apart 30 minutes before Sunday's deadline. Stewart is on an inexpensive contract and is still rather young, so he probably wouldn't pass through waivers if the Rockies tried to deal him in August. The 26-year-old will continue trying to improve his plate approach in Colorado.

According to Troy Renck of the Denver Post, trade talks for Ian Stewart are "heating up." The Rox are hoping to find some young talent for Stewart, who has been unable to produce consistently at the major league level. According to Renck, they're in talks with a National League team about a swap.

Ian Stewart got the nod on Monday but could not take advantage of it, finishing 0-for-4 with two strikeouts and an RBI. He had been relegated to pinch-hitting duties the previous three games. Now he owns an astoundingly poor .143/.229/.204 batting line. Aside from amassing seven hits in four games around the All-Star break, Stewart has been quite possibly the majors' biggest offensive liability this season.

Ian Stewart hasn't started a game since Thursday. Ty Wigginton manned the hot corner all weekend and should continue to do so down the stretch. The Rockies have grown frustrated with Stewart, who can't seem to produce on a consistent basis at the major league level.
